Our defense has killed us the last three years in the playoffs. Our we ever going to make a change and go a different route. Obviously something needs to change! I'm so frustrated!

The definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

I wouldn't be an advocate of letting anyone go but it's been the same song and dance with the defense the past several years.

Horrific job by the defense today... quite literally couldn't have been worse. They were 11/14 on 3rd down and had converted 2 4th downs and a FG on the 3 stops. Ugly. Illinois State has a good offense, but we made them look much better than they really were. Another year, another round of having no idea how to D up a zone read scheme.

I don't think firing guys is the answer, but clearly, Baldwin needs to have a sit down and tell the D that what we're doing now isn't working. They need to find another way to play, because giving up 50+ points on four different occasions is shocking, especially considering we control the ball pretty well on offense.

I don't know what it is exactly, but I think it's gotta be schematic. It's hard to think that it's recruiting when we have so much talent all over the field. However...when you think about it, the last time we had a truly great defense was with a team that had mostly Wulff recruits, so take what you will away from that.

Coincidentally, there are a lot of seniors on D. If there was ever a year when we need transfers, it would be this one. It's scary to think what we'd be like without McDonald, McCarthy, Hamlin, and Zylstra.

I was thinking the same thing. Unfortunately, Coach Baldwin doesn't take in many transfers.

Well, that's probably why so many underclassmen played on defense this year. Remember there was a true freshman in the mix at corner until he got injured and I'm sure transfers are probably already identified by this staff. This coaching staff have little to prove to me, as far as recruiting- we're in good hands.

I will be saying a prayer for the gentlemen who had the heart attach, I heard it may be player's relative.

That being said, I think the better team may have won today and we may not have Baldwin moving forward, thus breaking out the pitch forks and torches may be necessary until we know, for sure, who will be leading this team next year. Congrats to team for a conference championship. :thumb:

We get a couple of corners back, which will help. Tonani seems to have completely fallen off the radar; it almost seems like he's been demoted to way down. Zamora is back. Seems like Havili has fallen out of favor too, but will be back.

The D line is where my concerns are. We don't get penetration on passes and we don't lock down rushes. It's a rough state of affairs. We need an Andru Pulu in a bad way.

2010 NC !!!! The defense would always rise to the occasion ! And yes, they were Wulffs guys ! That being said, thought the whole team looked uninspired, poor tackling, dropped passes, overthrows, penalties !!! Just not our day, and yes !!! please get us a defense this is becoming so frustrating !!!! GO EAGS

we have a jordan pulu but he just hasnt seen the field much in two years. Tonani has been having concussion issues and hasnt been playing.

I've been barking up this tree for a while now (que kalm).

Good for you!

Our defense sucked today. Feel for the kids and coaches who've sacrificed so much, to come up short.

The 2015 season starts tomorrow.

Goeags!

Ok, so I shouldn't be calling for anyone's job and I take that back. But, there needs to be major changes.

Today was so frustrating because I thought we had progressed from the first half of the season, but this was the same performance that we saw against UW, MSU, and ISU. In hind sight we would have been better off onside kicking after every score.

FWIW, Illinois State is really, really good. And extremely well coached. I'd give odds that they win it all this year. They aren't as good offensively as we made them appear, but they don't really have any liabilities anywhere on the field. It almost seemed like every play was effective in some way or another and they just knew that they could and would score every time they touched it.

So Graham has forgotten how to coach defense? Seemed liked he did ok in 2010.

Fact is EWU was decimated with injuries in spring, had to play undersized DLs and they have no speed at LB.

To take a page a page from Aaron Rogers "R....E....L.....A.......X"

EWU remains a Top 10 program, yes recruiting needs to improve on defense, but be careful what you ask for.

Look at Montana, they haven't sniffer the semis in a while.
