UCFE commissioned an overall view and evaluation of its athletic presence. Here are the results with other good quantitative info on Big Sky, Big West and other programs.

Perhaps Gonzo should have something like this done also.

What is there for Gonzo and Wanless to audit?

Football has seen vast improvement and an increase in media exposure due to success on the field. Hoops will continue to suck and everyone will use the lack of facilities as an excuse to tolerate it. Olympic sports, meh who cares, they don’t and can’t generate revenue so it doesn’t matter what they do.

There you go GCM, audit complete. Gonzo and Wanless can put my statement on some nice expensive paper, frame it, laminate it, put some nice photos around it and pocket the $200k or so these things cost.

Does it mean or signals that UCD is looking to put all of it's sports into one conference? Did anyone else notice that they didn't do an institutional profile for the WAC?

With the regional CA FBS schools moving to the MWC, the WAC is all but dead from a CA FCS stand point. SJSU is on a hope and prayer that they can somehow land in the MWC. Their recent home game against New Mexico State drew a whopping 13,456 people. (That’s 705 more people than what showed up at the Hornet – Griz game on the same day.) But again there is nothing but voracious crowds of people, large TV contracts, and immeasurable bags of money awaiting the CA FCS schools that move to the WAC.

i think the Dempsey report is very encouraging as an Aggie fan/alum. Its pretty clear the opinion that the current state of the department in terms of funding, recruiting and the '8 guiding principles' isn't condusive to acheiving success at the D1 level. its states many opinions that i, and other fans, have been saying for awhile.

now...its a matter of putting everything in place!

I sure hope not losing at home to D-II teams was included in the audit.

Hearsay that the davis staff is shittin bricks with word that their new AD is looking to come in and clean house. Having the axe over your head the whole season sucks, if true.

:coffee:

I want to see their staff in place for a few years to see just how badly a BSC schedule will hand them their ass on a weekly basis.

How true! Gone are the days of beating up CSU everyhamlet and 'dominating' the GNAC. The weekly grind will be a steep adjustment.

I'm curious to see what shakes out. I am sure Biggs will be given a golden parachute for his efforts over the years (teaching/fund raising) ala Coach Mattos. The rest of the staff are toast.

Cleaning house would be the best thing for their program. I hope it doesn't happen. I want to see their staff in place for a few years to see just how badly a BSC schedule will hand them their ass on a weekly basis.

I don't think they're ready for what's coming their way SD. No more Humbolt States, USDs, or Southern Alabamas or UTSAs...

Biggs and staff are absolutely holding that program back and if they want to keep the 'ol ball and chain for another 3 or 4 years, I'm cool with that!!!

The Big Sky is a very physical league, a war a week with no real relief. It also has many diverse and challenging venues, it's one thing to play Big Sky teams once or twice a year, another to play in the BSC eight times a year. I think that our improved depth has helped us better survive the attrition and has been a big part of our recent improvement. I don't think that davis has the depth to survive a full BSC schedule without being pounded into dust!

That may be true for NOW, GL. But remember that the other schools likely said the same thing about us for years. They're not saying it now. It might take a while, but the Manure Pile WILL become competitive in the Sky.

Completely agree.
