Sound familiar to anybody? Apparently he is now tearing it up at Cal Poly.

"Northern Arizona -- As a freshman in 2008, Williams was named Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year after rushing for 950 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and 12 touchdowns in 11 games ... also caught 14 passes for 70 yards ... 22 carries for 194 yards and three scores against Idaho ... also had 100-plus games against Northern Colorado, Portland State and Montana ... named runner-up for FCS Freshman of the Year honors ... Lumberjacks were 6-5 overall and 4-4 in Big Sky games." :(

If i remember correctly hollywood henderson was hurt, so deonte got the start. He then transferred to a jc, then sdsu, and finally he has found a home in cal poly. It will be interesting to see him playing again in the dome when poly comes to visit. Ill take bauman over this guy any day though

Sure do...I was kinda dissapointed when he left after just one year. He had such a bright future at NAU. Oh well, let's just hope he's happy where he's at. Sounds like he's traveled from school to school a bit. It will be interesting seeing him back at NAU, but playing against us. I bet he will be inspired to play well...little punk   no, I wish him well. We have a great replacement in Bauman :thumb:

I wonder why he left NAU. It's always interesting to find out the gossip and what goes on behind the scenes in teams. Maybe it was the fact that the team totally folded the last half of that season? who knows...

Deonte Williams had a great freshman year. Can't remember though...was he a speed back or a bruiser? I was sad that he left NAU but am happy to see him doing well with Cal Poly. Not hating on Deonte but I am thrilled to have Zach Bauman in Flagstaff. Rooting for Cal Poly if NAU doesn't put themselves in place to win the Big Sky.

NAU doesn't have enough media coverage or enough rabid, die-hard, jock-sniffing fans stalking players (that sounds really wrong but it's true with a whole bunch of FBS schools) to get all the behind the scenes dirt. That's okay, I guess.

Thanks for the video clip, jacksdude. I see some similarities in how Deonte Williams and Zach Bauman run. That will be a fun matchup. Interesting to see if Deonte is interviewed about his feelings about returning to NAU are as the lead up to the game materializes?

Deonte went for 168 on 22 carries yesterday. He now has 1,094 yards on the season. The only game he has not rushed for over 100 yards this season is against Weber State where he twisted his ankle and only had 6 carries.
