On the B2Network webcast Sunday ( which had numerous technical issues) The "Homer" announcer for PSU made reference to talking with Wildcat Carl Arky, and confirming about Coach Rahe being considered for an opportunity in his native Iowa as a head coach? Was I having a nightmare or did I really hear such a thing?

Iowa State or Iowa... Are either getting rid of their coaches? Other than one of those two schools, I don't see Rahe going anywhere. Those are the only schools that would be sexy enough to get Rahe to leave.

Also, and I might be in extreme denial, Rahe really likes Utah, his wife loves Utah, his children are in school here and young, and he has a lot of loyalty towards Weber for giving him his first shot. Finally, I don't think Rahe is going anywhere with Lillard being a Soph.

If he does go...there are those possibilities...What would that mean to the incoming recruits.

It looks like Iowa has been in the dumps for 3 years now. They are wondering if pushing Steve Alford out was the right move. They could definately be looking.

Drake isn't looking to good either...but, and this is from what I got from their forum, their coach is relatively new and is a good recruiting/players coach. Also, I don't think Rahe would leave to go coach at another Mid-major.

I think McDermott at Iowa State is ok for now, Lickliter at Iowa is probably more at risk. They will have a losing season this year and he is 3 years into his time there.
I am hoping and praying like Tal said, coach Rahe is established in Utah and and he wants to stick around a bit longer.
Pushing Alford out at Iowa has not worked as they expected.

I guess you never know, but...

this same topic/convo has came up after EACH of the 3 big sky titles.

another observation, rahe has lived in the state of Utah for 12 consecutive years now.

Rahe just needs to be reminded of what happened to his friend Giacaletti at Utah and that may cause him pause as he is courted by bigger programs. If he stays at Weber, he will have 20 win seasons every year, Big Sky Championships, and Post-season berths for the next 20 years, job security, stability, pay increases, and little to no garbage that comes from a "big time" programs.
Don't become Icarus and melt your wings - stay where you are loved and secure.

It seems like coaching positions are often filled regionally, maybe because of local recruiting relationships that are already in place. That is why it was so shocking that Pitt looked all the way to NAU when the picked Howland several years back. With that in mind, the schools I worry looking at coach Rahe out west are:
Boise St,(not a better program per se, but they might have the money to draw a coach with proven ability to rebuild programs) Colorado State, (where RR use to be an assistant) Hawaii, Wyoming. .

boise State pays their basketball coach 350,000 where weber state goes for 198,000. that 150,000 thousand dollar raise is enough for anybody ( Coach Rahe included) ,....you have to look at it... Boise State's fans are screaming for a change up here.. But football is King here also, this college town doesn't support loser teams...Coach V, idaho coach gets paid the same.. I'm sure they talk.. anyway, Weber needs to pay him more to keep him... anyway, lets beat PS THEN montana and win this thing...go Weber State..
