Did we watch a minute of film this week?

We look like we have no idea what to do. The offense acts like they've never seen these blitz packages before, when Montana runs them every game. Our defense is our defense, just another week for them giving up first down after first down. The sad part is Montana isn't good on offense, and we still get rolled.

I hope we can get this sorted out, but it is looking bleak. I have no idea how we can come out and play so bad to start a game.

I disagree, Gamboa has made a sum total of three plays. Other than that, he's been abused.

You could probably give Graham a passing grade this year, as our linebackers have been coherent. I have no idea what Sawyer is doing all week long. Our DL is hapless.

I also think we need to look around for some P5 dropdowns in the offseason. we have a serious lack of talent in some critical areas (safety) and I dont see a freshman being able to step in next year and make any difference.

I agree. Especially on DL and safety.

I just can't believe how unprepared we are this week. You would have thought getting clobbered last week would have woke us up. Instead, it just made us roll over and play dead.

I just want to clarify that Graham is now the tight ends coach and Josh Fetter is the linebackers coach.

This isn't accurate. With Gustafson at quarterback again, this offense is good. It's amazing how much of a drop off there is from him all the way down to our 3rd-string QB Makena Simis. The offense was moving all game with Gustafson but when Simis was put in, the offense went back to sputtering like it has the last 3-4 games.

Agree with MTGrizFan. Much different offense with Gustafson. The truly sad part about yesterday's game was that this was Gustafson's first game returning from a broken fibula, with an obvious limp (he wasn't very mobile even before the injury) and the EAGS could not get any pressure on him. Yes, our secondary got torched but it was the combination of our consistently soft pass rush and UMs explosive receivers Jones and Henderson.

The reality is that giant interior DL that are not very athletic will not get it done.

Film??? No. Wearing the big target all season, every team has prepared for the Eags, doesn't look like the Eags reciprocated the effort. 6-5 looks likely; ouch.

Not talking smack; the team looked hapless throughout the season. There are probably reason's we don't know about. Have seen teams schism over many things apparent and not so much. Is Kupp gone after this debacle? How many transfers occur in the off season? Guess that will be the gauge if real problems exist. Going to wait and see.

I'm bewildered by how badly this team has come apart. As mentioned earlier by Dopa, I'm not even upset about the losses to NAU and UM but by how badly we got it handed to us. I knew we had a good chance of losing our last three games but not in the fashion we did.
There is no fire from this team. I don't know if it's due to being the three time defending BSC and having a big head, or coaching somehow going AWOL or what. None of it makes sense for Beau's track record.

Nobody would have predicted the fashion in which we were destroyed on Saturday, but I knew we were walking into a hornets nest and boy did that prove true!

First off, give UM credit for playing very well. They're far from 41 points better than us, but they damn sure we're the better team this year. What I don't understand is the fact that we're blaming so much of this on the defense. I get it, they haven't proven they deserve to classified as good, but holy crap...the offense anyone??

We turned the ball over 6....SIX TIMES! That's 10 in the last two games. We put our D in nearly impossible situations all game long and they were able to hold to a few field goals. All 6 turnovers led to points, and two were returned for TDs. West looked absolutely hapless...Pathetic quite frankly and the coaches did nothing to help any of the 3 QB's be successful in that environment.

I love this program, I respect these young men, and appreciate our coaches l, but that was pathetic and flat out embarrassing. I have confidence this team can beat PSU this weekend and will be an at large team. Likely, this is the last home game regardless, so get your butts to Roos Field, suck it up and cheer loud. They need us.

GO EAGS!!!!!

Hard to be optimistic when we've had our a$$es handed to us in back to back weeks, it sucks, we've gone from a shot at a top 4 seed to possibly not making the playoffs even with a win. It appears that we have almost regressed in certain areas, I understand our youth, but when your 10 games in and nothing has changed, it's more of a problem than just youth.

We are actually pretty lucky we are not 3-7 this year. We probably should have lost to Poly, Weber, and UNC. We basically won on the last play of all of those games and none of those teams are very good. We haven't beaten a team with a winning record this year. I think we had pretty high expectations coming into this year because of previous years and who we had returning and the Oregon game gave us some hope and we ran off a string of nail biter wins against bad teams. Now we are stuck with a must win against a good team to have a shot at the playoffs, its amazing how things have changed in 2 weeks.

I think we underestimated how much the loss of VA and Quincy Forte were last year. Our defense has sucked the last few weeks, but so has our offense. Even when we gave up points on D we used to score in bunches and would win a shootout, lately our offense has just stunk. We have playmakers on both sides of the ball so I don't know what the problem is. I think my biggest issue about the last two games isn't the fact we lost, its how we lost. No fire with the team, no sense of urgency, its like we walked through the motions, were punched in the mouth and then gave up...very uncharacteristic of an EWU team.

With all that being said...we still have a shot at the playoffs and a shot to share the Big Sky crown. If SUU loses to NAU and we win, we can't win the auto bid, but we can share the Big Sky crown. As bad as we have played lately, its amazing that is still a possibility. I think we are in with a win against PSU and I think we even get a first round home game if that happens, so there is hope. I still think this season can be turned around and we can make some noise in the playoffs, we just need to come out with some fight on Saturday to get it done...Hope to see a lot of you out there as this may be the last time we get a chance to see Coop and our seniors have done a ton for the program and deserve the support...

marceagfan5,
I was planning on staying home this Saturday, not because we lost, it is becoming very hard for me to sit in that cold. I am no longer 21, add 60 years to that. After a game in the cold weather, it is very rough on my BOD. What you have stated in your last paragraph, Cooper Kupp, and Seniors deserve our support. Should Cooper leave for the NFL, I would be the 1st to congratulate him, he is an outstanding man and person/Athlete. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:    . We are very negative on of our Team, I just hope we come back and take it to PSU. Let us finish with a "BIG WIN". I know we are all use to winning, but we knew that team will win, it wasn't us. This is not the end of the world, we will REBOUND". Maybe most of you missed VA, I haven't missed his sorry ass, he is for himself. You can say I am bitter/pissed, I will accept it. I have nothing good to say about him. He is in the past, I look towards the future. Again thanks for making it easier to attend this game Saturday, our Team and Players deserves it. See all of you on Saturday. Home Coming, let us make it an "Outstanding One". Kick asses this Saturday. 10 turnovers in the last two games, need to turn it around. My daughter said there was a big crowd at Coaches Show tonight at Northern Quest. Lets not be pissed because of the two losses, Players and coaches need our support. Go Eagles!!!!!Vic Wallace

air045/kalm,
I was checking out all of the negative info on the blog. After reading yours, kalm, and others entry, I had to stop and laugh at what was going on, along with the cartoons. That made my night. Hope to see a lot of you at the game this weekend..air045 you mention that your wife was sick, so you were getting rid of your tickets. Here is hoping she is doing much better and well. Haven't been to a practice in two weeks, suffering from bad chest cold, and tiredness. Will make this game and support our Seniors, and the Team. I am praying the weather is warm this weekend, but I know better. This is football weather. I agree with you about those High School Bleachers on the visitors side. I have given up on all to fix up on Roos Field, should something come along, I will be happy. Happy Thanksgiving to all and your Families. Let us all pray for the People of France. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace
