Do you want UM to leave if they can?

If Montana leaves, I would like to pick up North Dakota State. Gotta have somebody to hate.

Tired topic.

Yes, but with the WAC falling apart there is more of a reason to think that they might comb the ranks of the FCS to look for teams to make the move up in class.

If UM goes so will MSU, the Montana regents would never let those schools split IMHO. I think the conference is stronger with them in it. Who do you get to replace them?

NDSU and UND would be good (or NDSU and SDSU if they let the ND schools split up). SDSU has always had a good DII basketball program and their facilities are nice.

NDSU and SDSU are in the MVFC, which is a good conference and on par with the Big Sky. I don't see them leaving. However I could see UND and USD leaving the always unstable Great West.

I might be remembering this wrong, but I think that the NCAA has placed a moratorium on schools changing divisions, i.e. they won't be able to move up to join the WAC. Could be (and probably am) wrong.

Ya there is one, but its suppose to be lifted pretty soon, but probably sooner now with all the conference shifting going on. I read on the other board that the WAC was looking at some schools, and I think the Montana schools were mentioned.

As much as I dislike UM, and MSU for that matter, UND and USD are simply not the same caliber programs, I think it would hurt the conference as a whole.

It would hurt the conference quite a bit but I don't see them leaving. If they did the conference would pick up Southern Utah but I don't see the WAC wanting anything to do with Montana State, their inclusion would kill any deal for Montana.

I just don't think the WAC will get the chance---One more school leaving kills them....and they could be looking at at least three more possible defections. (BYU is pushing Utah State as the 12th team in the new MWC, Louisiana Tech has been looking for a league that allows them to spend less time and money traveling, and Hawaii can go independent if it comes to that)
