So I also follow the Track team and was looking at the write on the meet at New Mexico and they talk Elijah Dotson, and sure enough the link is to his track profile. His first race was the 60 yd dash., running what amounts to a 4.75 40 time. Wondering if he is trying to get a little faster for next year.

Point taken, but I’m confident that Elijah already runs much faster than a 4.75 40. He may not be what’s considered a burner such as Ted Ginn Jr or Tyreke Hill, but he’s plenty fast.

Just based upon the eye test, I always figured he was a low 4.5 maybe high 4.4 guy. Even if he doesn’t officially run a 40 at that time, I guarantee he’s the type like Jerry Rice (who allegedly was clocked around 4.7-4.8) that is faster in games and in pads.

I’m glad to read that Elijah is working on his skills and trying to improve. All athletes should do that. If he wants to make it to the next level, which I believe he has a chance to do, he needs to be working to improve in all areas.

But his football speed has never been something I felt was average or below average. He’s broken a lot of long runs for the Hornets.
