Saw that Drake had a "no contest" in first game vs Quincy. They lead 10-0 at half when severe weather caused cancellation. Drake was 8-4 last season. Lost to u of north dakota 55-7 and south dak state 77-7. They play in the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League...FCS D1.

The Pioneer League is generally regarded at the worst in FCS. Among those teams, Drake is probably #2 historically behind San Diego. It’s a bit strange that they don’t offer schollies as these are some high-priced schools.

Drake will likely be less than Monmouth, on paper. It’s a good game to get our defensive kinks worked out. If we lose this one, it’s gonna be a really long season. This one shouldn’t be close.

Interesting note, they played 3 teams from “power” FCS conferences last year and lost by a combined 191-17. Again, if this team moves the ball with any kind of regularity, it’s a terrible sign.

Here is a Drake (not the Canadian rapper) 17minute podcast with their head coach on the EWU game. The host made me laugh when he said that Moscow, ID was only about 20 miles from Cheney. Close enough! At least he said Spokane right!

Here is an article from DU's athletic site regarding the two quarters of play last week. Sounds like their offense struggled to move the ball. Quincy is a DII school who is picked to finish 6th in their conference.

My prediction is an EWU win. 52-17 Eags decide to left off the gas in the 3rd qrt which will lead to Drake getting one or two deep balls past our young secondary in the 4th.

For all of the posts about how shitty our stadium is, has anyone seen where Northwestern plays now? Holy crap, a Big 10 stadium with 12k seats. It’s a beautiful environs, but wow, it’s mediocre for an FCS stadium.

Eastern 126 Drake -25

Northwestern is playing in a temporary stadium because they are building a new stadium on the site of the old stadium. I would be thrilled if EWU was working on a fcs equivalent even if they played in sonething like Portland State's "home" stadium during construction.
