Drew Hubel

9 TD's / now 5 picks in one game. Poor kid has lots to tell his grand kids one day about his first coolege football season. is 5 picks a PSU record for one game?

Can you imagine setting both records in the first 4 games of your freshman year. How wierd is that

Hope he shakes this one off

I think he was playing with broken finger on his throwing hand, and MSU is one of the better passing teams, but that was brutal to watch yesterday. The decent throws that he had were dropped, and he was throwing into traffic all game long.

I look at the fact he is a true freshman, and freshmen sometimes make mistakes that an experienced junior or senior wouldn't make. He showed great promise of great things to come.

I want to know who this kid Collins is he was awesome against the same defense that caused Drew so much problems. After game I heard one of the players tell his parents that many of the players think he should have stared from the start of the season.

Collins is a juco with a lot less natural ability. If he fit into the offense, he wouldn't have been the fourth-string guy at the beginning of the season. He's probably a better leader than the true freshman though.

How much of Hubel's struggles could be related to his injured hand (thumb)?

Not to be a Hubel apologist, but he had a ton of balls that sailed in him.

With regards to Collins, I agree with you. He came out of fall practice as the fourth guy for a reason.

I think 2008 will be a wide open competetion between everyone, Howland, Hubel, Collins and even the incoming freshman Hagan from Sacramento.

Collins was going against a prevent defense at the end. It was not the same defense Hubel faced earlier in the game.

That being said I would say the thumb might have been a major factor - hard to grip the ball properly and it sails high - in his performance.

How in the heck did Danny Urrego not get special teams player of the week?

12 points, 43.4 per punt and a tackle? I guess it's all about punt average.

Hubel needs to prove that he can get it done on the road. His performance away from home this year has been less than stellar.

Couldn't find the youtube video mentioned in the above article, but I did find this one. Guitar playing good, singing so-so. I love the Vikings banner in the background. Go Conner! Go Drew! Go Viks!
