Interesting what SportsBarVik wrote on the OregonLive Forum:
Moving up to FBS to reflect our patriotic duty to the state. If Boise State can do it, we can do it.
As long as we remain a I-AA/FCS team, the Ducks won't even play us anymore. For whatever reason (East Coast Bias?), they strongly believe that playing any more I-AA/FCS teams hurts their BCS hopes and ranking. Other I-A teams will continue to schedule I-AA teams, but as far as the Ducks are concerned, they are playing the BCS ranking issue conservatively, unlike Oregon State---now that's a switch!
From now on, the Ducks will schedule only lesser FBS teams for tune-up games, like Central Michigan. If we wish to play them, as JG has envisioned, alternating games yearly with UO and OSU, then our hand is forced: The Ducks require that we move up to FBS to play the in-state round robin.
I think this will good for us and good for Oregon.
