Duft out!

His new position is very much a make-believe position. No way you can do a national search and bring in a coach who doesn't have control over HIS program. If Duft continues having a say over the roster, coaches and development it'll be like having two head coaches. NO WAY this will work out. In all actuality, Duft's job will be similar to what Coach Graybeal did when the administration moved on and hired Mac. Difference...Coach Graybeal is a loveable character. Someone people like being around and can build community. Duft...not so much.

Good! At least we get some new energy in the HC position as BigWaldO points out. Perhaps Duft will be on a somewhat virtual leash. Glad admin. has at least shown some action.

Agreed that it would have been best to clear the deck completely but some movement is better than nothing. Are present assistants being considered if little outside interest shows? Hope they do a national search at least. Baby steps...

I have absolutely zero information on how the search will be conducted. However, having been close to a similar situation in the past, I'm positive that all qualified applicants will be considered. That takes me out of the conversation from day one. You never know who may be interested until you go through the process. My guess is that there will be a lot of interest. The school, the community, the facilities, and the potential are all top notch for a mid-major program.

As far as what role Eric might have, going forward, I would think it would be much like what we have seen with similar situations like this in the past, fund raising, community development and marketing.
