So what happened to Dylan Orms? did he graduate? leave the team? just got benched? I thought he had a real good year last season. So what happened to him?

probably an injury, he was good last yr.

Dylan is not injured. The new coaching staff chose to go in another direction for no apparent reason other than to have a qb for more than one year.

And the fact that Orms looked awful in the second half against Lindenwood and the first half against CSU.

How can you say that he played poorly against Lindenwood? He drove to team to the go ahead score in the Lindenwood game. He did not play great against CSU, however, he was not put in a position to be successfull.

Are you serious?? That's what you base it on?

Let's look at Orms stats for the Lindenwood game. Played 2 quarters (3rd & 4th), he was 5/10 for 65 yds passing. His first 3 possessions they were 3 and out. No first downs. His fourth possession they started on Lindenwood's 37 yard line and marched only 19 yds and had to kick a field goal. AND of those 19 yds gained, 15 yds were way of pass interference penalty. So really a 4 yd march. It wasn't until his last series that he was able to manufacture a drive. So basically 4 out of 5 drives he led was 3 and out. Wow! Anyone ever think maybe he wasn't the right man for the job last year? Just sayin'.....

I'm a DO fan and would like to see him have a chance to run the team. I think they could use the leadership and experience that he could bring in a time when we don't seem to have much of anything going. I didn't see the CSU game, but from the radio it sounded like they tried to run him on almost every play and CSU had a better D line than our O line so each run only resulted in a loss or short gain. I do support Coach Collins this year and hope they get things going soon.

Well, keep in mind that the coaching staff is trying to implement this spread offense. The spread is MUCH different than what we ran before. Maybe Orms is a better QB overall than Lobato right now in this stage of their respective careers but I believe that the coaching staff finds Seth to be more suitable to the spread as of this point. From what I've seen and heard, I think Orms has been a professional about this whole situation. Heck, his teammates voted him as one of the captains and that was AFTER Lobato was named starter at the conclusion of fall camp. I don't believe we've seen the last of Orms playing meaningful snaps for this program in his career, he may be called on a few more times.... It's just tough to bring in a whole new offense and expect things to go smoothly for players that were recruited to play in a much different system. That, and with hardly any consistency in the run game to speak of at this point, makes things extremely difficult for any quarterback right now.

You didn't actually watch the Lindenwood game, did you?

Yes, I was at the game. The first three series they ran the ball up the middle without success. When they opened up the offense, they moved the ball for the go ahead score.

Let's just agree to disagree.

Dylan has been great through this whole thing. I just saw on another board that SDSU's starting senior QB quit the team after the coach was going to bench him. What a loser.

If the coaches are thinking more about building a program instead of winning a game or two this season, they have to go with the QB of the future and not one who is in his last year.

Orms is a terrific backup to have on hand with his leadership and talent. (yes, I think he has talent, just not so much that it blew Lobato and Baca out of the competition.) But if Lobato is who they want to lead the team next year and beyond (he's got three to play, right?) then they had to bench Orms in order to get Lobato the experience he will need to get better, to make the program better overall. And Collins thinks that Lobato brings something that Orms didn't deliver, then it's his decision.

This really sucks for Orms, but as everyone has said, he is handling as professionally as possible. This happens at schools everywhere, it's unfortunate, but it's college football.

I would like to see Orms convert to a RB, WR or DB. Whatever it takes to fill a need. He's athletic and he knows all the plays.

I'm with you, there.

Even Tim Tebow is taking a turn at WR, the quarterback is usually one of the most athletic guys on the team, find a spot where he can contribute if not at QB.
