definitely a contender for the league, but far from a lock. teams with good d are always a threat to beat them. when adams is off they're in trouble

EWU is always competitive with their fair share of skill athletes, however the coaching staff knows what to do in tight situations in games, however that has not been the situation with our coaching staff in the past, hopefully our coaching staff has overcome this situation from the top down.

There are 61 posts on just the Grade the Eags. Such fun.

I took a peek over there and it was about what I expected. A few Griz fans actually wanting to talk football and the majority just wanting to talk crap about EWU. It is always the same ego inflated chest thumping about their stadium and history, but not much about the present and future on the field success.

It is very difficult for the Griz to accept the quality program EWU has established over the last 15 years, with tremendous success over the last 4. They love to feel superior and hate it that a regional school like Eastern could even feel like they are a peer to U of M.

I don't mind the good natured trash talking, but it did bother me when Alpha Griz and a few others started with the racist crap against Vernon. Trying to paint him as a thug, violent, a gang member, etc. just shows their ignorance.

Go Eagles!!!

Hey guys, longtime reader of this and other FCS forums (going on 5 years now) but never registered to post until today. Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in on this. First off it's great to see other fans of other programs talking about EWU. That means the Eagles have arrived and are gonna be here for awhile. Especially when it's fans of a program as prestigious as Montana.

I have a ton of respect for the Grizzlies program and their fanbase as a whole. Almost every Griz fan I've ever met in person has been very kind and smart. Just last week I was on a backpacking trip in Griz country. I didn't make it to Missoula, but I proudly wore my EWU hat through Superior and St. Regis and got a few comments from fans and we talked about the upcoming year a bit. All good natured, all very pleasant.

Unfortunately anonymous message boards are breeding grounds for some of the worst types each fanbase has to offer, and usually the larger the fanbase the worse it is. And Montana's fanbase is very large. E-Griz is one of the worst, but you can't take it personally, and you can't hold the views/comments of a few against an entire fanbase. I have nothing but respect for Montana, despite a few bad apples, and it makes me proud to see EWU quickly catching up on the trail Montana has been blazing for the last three decades. There's still work to be done, but the progress EWU has made the last 6 years under Baldwin has been remarkable. I can't wait for this season to get underway. Go Eagles!

Most Griz fans are great, but every fan base has their share of bad ones, it just seems like a lot of them post on Egriz.

VA has lit them up for two years and will do so again this year, which is why they love to hate him. If we hadn't beaten them the past 2 years, they wouldn't care.

Once we win the chipper this year, we will be even with the Griz in terms of national championships and I can't imagine how they will feel then...

I have said in posts before that I have always had a good time and been treated well by griz fans. However, I wonder if I have ever met an egriz poster at a game. If their (egriz) online persona is anything like their nature at a game, I bet I would not have had such positive experiences.

I have to say it is really entertaining to follow egriz during their games, especially the last two years. When they are getting beat the once jovial game thread quickly disintegrates into a "Lord of the Flies" scenario where egrizzers turn on each other. Fun stuff :thumb:

They will resort to that "call us when you have 17 straight playoff appearances, or such and such conference championships," except with copious amounts of spelling and grammatical errors.

If I did, it would be the spark that turns into the Watermelon Hill fire.

Here's my Griz fan story. I think it was the first Red Turf game. The student section was up and active before the game, cheering us old folks wearing Eagles gear that walked in front of them, and booing those wearing Griz gear. There was a Griz couple, probably in their 60s, kind of wandering in front of the stands looking at their tickets, obviously wondering where their seats were. They slowly realized they were being booed. He looked up at the student section, a grin spread across his face, and he urged them to get louder. Which they did!! After a few moments, the man and his wife applauded the students, who applauded them in turn, and they headed up to their seats with broad smiles.

College football at its best!

Here's a Griz story I'll not soon forget. The date 11/15/2003 on a freezing day at WA-Grizzly Stadium. Three things; 1) Great fans to tailgate with..they do it right! 2) Kyler Randall, another great WR for EWU, broke the school record for pass receptions. He broke Bob Picard's 31 year record of 166 receptions by two in his last game as an Eagle. He was a class act to be sure. 3) As the team boarded the bus to get back to Cheney there was several wasted Griz fans standing out side the fenced area yelling crap at the players as they were getting on the busses. One gentleman in particular was yelling so loud and making no sense it was comical. All of a sudden he projectile vomited all over the place including covering his shoes. As we were leaving town the wife and I saw him walking (staggering) downtown with just one shoe on in the freezing cold. I wonder to this day what happened to that other shoe.

reading and/or posting on egriz is like going full retard.
