Eagle football player arrested

As a parent of a EWU football player, I do not condone the actions of Chandler taking the gun to a drinking establishment. I'm a little hard pressed to believe you need a weapon in Cheney, Wa. Also as someone who has been involved in Law Enforcement for over 30 years, this incident was blown out of proportion.

At first when this was reported I thought how in the hell did the police not kill the young man. Because I know my training and that of my officers, and if a gun had been pointed at myself or my officers we would have not hesitated to stop the threat. After viewing the video the officers involved did a great job, but at no time did I see the muzzle raised in a threatening manner. The young man Chandler did comply as ordered and placed the gun on the ground and assumed the prone position. God bless him and his parents, and this should be a lesson learned by all students and athletes, that guns and alcohol do not mix.
