EAGS at Idaho State

We will rebound (pun intended) for a win tonight in Pocatello.

I want to see us pound the ball down low, soften up their bigs and then kick it out for "high quality" 3s. No problem with shooting a lot of 3s, just don't need to force it. No fast break points for ISU, some monster jams by Jois and Seifert and hold ISU to <30% from the field. Also, we need to be >90% from the line.

Sanchez was killing us with 3s and their bigs are getting easy inside shots. We are going to have to come out on fire in the second half. Maybe the zone will help. Where is OG?

OG is sick I believe.

I wonder why we are not trying to get the ball inside to Sieferth? Seems like he has position almost every time. Then we could work it outside.

We are flat out getting worked. Getting beat to the basket, are not handling the ball well under defensive pressure. Taking shitty shots AAARGH!!!!

Yeah its pretty embarrassing. Taking very bad shots. Hope this lights a fire under their butts for this next home stand. Dangit, thought this would be a win.

My personal opinion, so take it for what it is worth.

I think this team puts itself into a coma by spending way too much time setting ball screens by our backcourt instead of attacking the basket by getting the ball to our bigs by driving or screening for our bigs. We force up some horrible three point shots because we spend all of the damn shot clock farting around 30 feet from the basket.

Then, as soon as someone comes off the bench they are immediately looking for a three point attempt and more times than not are forcing up a miserable shot which many times is an air ball.

Then, we seem to be out of position and get beat down the court in transition. I thought part of giving up fast break baskets was due to the better and faster teams we played early. But this lack of getting back on defense is chronic.

This is going to be a long miserable season if something does not change quickly.

I agree. We have got to get back on defense. We'll see as the season goes. This one hurts, but Go Eags!

I'm really surprised by this. I didn't see the game because I was at the UNLV-Air Force game (don't get me started). I thought EWU would handle Idaho St fairly easily after watching Eastern play better competition. I took the +1 and thought I'd be laughing all the way to the cashier. Sounds look too many 3s, and not getting back on D. That also sounds like the last two seasons at UNLV. Saturday was not a good night for my squads.
