Eags Offensive Linemen 2015

The good news is that the Eags are having and outstanding 2015 recruiting class. We are adding some explosive quickness and overall our team speed improvement will be noticeable at all positions IMO.

The bad news is the Eags are losing 7 OL that contributed in 2014 including an All American. #77 Jay-Tee Tiuli (6-4 315) FROSH will be moved to the defensive side of the ball and given an opportunity on the DL, probably at Nose Tackle. He had contributed some at OG this year. Having the amount of turnover cited here, plus the fact that OL are the largest group of position players on the field explains why the Eags have recruited the OL hard in 2014 and 2015.

All American Guard Aaron Neary OL 6-4 300 JUNIOR will be in his last season before graduating and has the versatility to play OG or OT. He has a wide range of playing weight that gives him a lot of versatility and has played at times as low as 260 and all the way up to 300. He is extremely athletic and could be the best OL in the conference if not the FCS.

2015 Newcomers Nathan Jacobson, a 6'5 270 are OL Tristen Taylor 6'7 310 big mammoth type OL that will need to improve their feet but are very solid players. Codi McGuire 6'3 275 is the Neary type player that will likely just play inside at OG or C but is play ready and could push for time early. Don't be surprised if a few 2015 prospects on the OL don't redshirt and are on the active roster or even on the field.

Butorac and Rodgers are gone, but who else? Boatright and Curtis will step into those roles, and both guys have a wealth of experience. I'd expect the OL to be as good as this year...

Hmmm, The EWU O Line only looses 2 from this years team, Center Butorac and Right tackle Rogers. Boatright will probably be at center and Cassidy Curtis at Right Tackle for 2015 season. #77 as stated earlier, never played 1 snap on the O line in 2014.

I wish I knew more specifics of who exactly is not returning (graduating, leaving school, or moving to defense) but I didn't ask when I spoke to a coach a few weeks ago. The number I was given though was 7 OL need replacing and that Frosh and Sophs will have an opportunity to contribute on the active roster in 2015. I did get the impression based on the discussion that all 3 particulars were part of the original comment he made about replacing the 7.

OK, I see what the coaches meant then. After the 2015 season and going into the 2016 season, EWU will LOSE 7 Offensive Lineman. They are: #79 Cassidy Curtiss, #78 Clay Deboard, #72 Aaron Nearey, #73 TJ Boatright, #66 Gomez, #61 Jay Deines, #58 David Delgado.
And there you have it, and that was off the top of my head!!

makes sense why linemen would be a priority. thats a solid group of players. Debord might be the best tackle we've had at EWU since Roos.

I've watched all the 2015 OL commits HUDL highlights and I really like this group. Our OL should progress nicely under one of the BEST in the business coaching them. Coach Best does such a great job with his OL.

Add 6'5 275 OL Chris Schichting out of Snoqualmie, WA to the list. De-committed from Montana yesterday and is now an EWU verbal.

Montana State also lost a FS Remmy Nerio from Arlington high (Riverside Ca.) to Sac State three weeks ago. He cancelled his official visit to Montana State after his Sac State visit. His parents liked the idea of being able to travel to more games, so family decision on Sac State.

Pretty solid player. Not elite but hits well and very smart.

Had a good talk with the coaches recently and was told they believe this incoming 2015 class could be the best group of 5 OL they have offered since the staff took over at EWU.

McGuire
Taylor
Long
Jacobson
Schlichting

It is good that we are better than ever but don't you think we need to be better? Not that our O-line has been lacking but there are better athletes coming out of high school all the time. The competition is raising the bar every year so if we do not raise the bar we are falling behind.
I am glad we have a driven coaching staff that go out and bring those better athletes to Eastern, and they are getting a great education and life experience at the same time.

I agree we have to continue to get better, and I've heard those words right out of the coaches mouthes. It's an Eagle Mantra. I think one of the things this year's class will erase is the concept that Eastern is a "step down" when people see that we have players in the 2015 class that passed up on schools like Boise, SJSU, Cal, Wyoming, UTEP, Utah, Air Force, UNLV, etc to be an Eagle!

Every one of our OL kids too had more than a few offers from bigger schools or schools in the Big Sky. That's a great sign of how the program is being viewed nationally.

If all these commitments hold, it really does look that way.

Long and McGuire are 100% per kids and parents.

Schlichting sounds very solid after going through his situation at Montana that fell through and has expressed a full commitment. His situation at Montana fell apart quickly and he has a level of appreciation for EWU's way of handling how things came down.

Taylor has an offer from UNLV and they will try to pressure him. He roomed with McGuire on the official and made a EWU verbal on the trip but came to it undecided. I'm hearing things at UNLV are falling apart since the new hire and it's getting ugly fast. There is some fear down there that 0-10 may be on the horizon with no answers. All that weighed in on his choice.

Jacobson I have no idea about.

No details were given but word is the OL recruit group is intact and is one of the best ever as we hoped. Tomorrow is the day!

Ben Puapuaga. 6'4", 290lbs of beast. The highlights they showed of him during the live feed this morning were IMPRESSIVE. Just straight up smashing people and effortlessly decleating anyone dumb enough to get in his way.

 I watched his video last night and the guy is a road grater but seems to have good balance and overall athleticism as well. At 6'4, though, I wonder if he will play inside or out since most of the guy we've been playing at tackle are in the 6'6 - 6'7 range.

I was impressed with all the O-Linemen...was nice to see a couple of small town guys in that group.

I think OG for him. We will have an outstanding OL for years to come.

I think Big Ben Puapuaga might stay on OL, Defense got one of Coach Best OL #77 Jay-Tee Tiuli he is not going to let another get away. I must get a video so I can really appreciate the Players we have gotten. The OL Player you want to see is #72 Aaron Neary, he have really bulked up since the season, and believe me he is really working very hard to be ready for Spring. He has been taking other Players with him to run steps, i.e. #73-T.J. Boatright, #70-Matt Meyer,(WSU TR.) #75-Spencer Blackburn (Bellingham) he is also getting the muscles on him compared to last year, #3 -Jabari Wilson (RB), #88-Terence Grady (WR), #1 - Shaq Hill, (WR), forgot a (DB) from Prosser, I feel ashamed, I normally write their names down, and he has been here since last year. Anyway they all wants to be ready when Spring Ball Begins :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:    Vic Wallace

Everything starts up front, on both sides of the ball. Ohio State proved that in their run for the Championship. Win the war in the trenches and you usually win the game. This is good news for EWU. :thumb:
