2009: 3-8 (W, San Diego, @ Idaho St, South Dakota) - 4 other winnable games

Will 2010 be the breakout year?

2 - No reason to be optimistic I think at this point they need to show me something other than the status quo before I believe it. Oh they will talk big but we've heard it all before under this regime.

I voted 5-6 because I like the new coaching staff. We have the talent and if we stay healthy I think this is reasonable.

I agree with Blofeld. No reason for great expectations. I will go with at least 2 wins in Adams State and Idaho. Maybe we will get 4 or 5 wins and we can really be proud.

I wonder who voted for 8 wins? I like the optimism!! :D

I'd like some of whatever they are smokin'...

I went with 3-8, After 3 years of saying how much better things will be next year, I'm not buying.

Until they get the QB situation figured out, it doesn't look good. I wouldn't be surprised if they lost to Adams St, which I don't think will happen but you never know.

they should get 3, if not 4 wins at home......adams st.,isu, and either,or both, ewu and nau. give me 3 w's for sure.....as for the road, well........ lets call 2 w's for sure!!!! should be 5-6, hopefully 6-5..... things are better starting now, at unc football... looks like most of the kids are shownig back up in town. thats good! keep fighting guys

I do think one of those 6 wins I voted for will be against Weber St. They lost a ton of talent either to graduation - Trevyn Smith, Toon, and that one all-conference CB and an all-american offensive lineman. And Bo Bolen left on a two year LDS mission and one other lineman transfered to Hawaii. We usually play Weber pretty well and match up against them pretty good. This could be the year we beat them.

sounds like we need to get this thread going again.

i stand by my earlier prediction of 5-6, and hopefully, with a good run, a solid midpack 6-5. yes, a winning season with tons to build on! i hope they put the "Young Gun" deen back there pulling strings. yes, he might get hammered abit early. but we can lay a foundation for the future startin now! go bears! fight on to victory!

I like Deen too, but in order to get 6 wins we need Orms out there.

How about the possibility of using a three qb rotation? Will that just not work because of timing issues with receivers and running backs and/or also a lack of continuity. Any thoughts?

There is a school of thought that goes "if you have two quarterbacks then you have zero quarterbacks". Not sure what the saying would be if we had 3. Maybe "if you have 3 quarterbacks, then you can finally beat Montana."

I am okay with any of the three but I'm more comfortable with Orms. His accuracy and arm strength aren't bad and he can run like crazy. We might need that with a so-so offensive line.

It's going to be a QB merry go round for the first few games I think, until one of them emerges as a clear cut starter. I feel all of them are on a pretty equal level playing field as far as talent goes.

Sticking by my 3-8. On paper you could probably put this team as high as 6-5, anything higher is a tad unrealistic. However I have never seen a team find a way to loose games like Downing's have.

This year we should have a very good sense of how this team is after the first three games. If this team is for real they will be 2-1 or 3-0. Its not just about the record though, we should beat up on Adams St pretty good, looking back, the last time we won more than 3 games (2004) we opened the season against Mines and took them 52-31. Last time we played Adams St and we were good, we beat them 55-14. I would look for a similar score to show that this team maybe has turned the corner. The true test will be week two though. Although this is not the same Weber team as in the past, if we win, then maybe, just maybe there is something to the 'this is the year' talk. ISU at home should be an easy game, and trouble there would show that nothing has really changed....
