Early Signing Period

The early signing period is 11 days away, it goes from the 11th to the 18th.

If it was a normal year we would be signing, or at least have openings for several players. This year, due to Covid, we may not know how many players are planning to use that extra year of eligibility. Still, I could see us signing anywhere from one to three guys, depending on who we can get and the coaches anticipated turnover. We could see a commitment or two over the next few weeks.

I also think that the transfer portal will be just as big, or bigger, as it has been in the past. Any openings that arise in the spring will have a big pool to pull from.

I don't have any idea what our needs might be. I think that our team is a complete unknown. Certainly, it is for me.

Well, it certainly looks like we didn't sign anybody. At least there have been no announcements. That must mean that the majority of our guys are planning to return next fall or at least the coaches have no reason to think they will be needing many guys in this class. Having not seen these guys play, I have no opinion on who will be doing anything, come spring.

One thing I don't understand is why the NCAA won't grant a blanket waiver to all transfers that started school this fall. They have already declaired it a free year, eligibility wise, for all players this year. Granting a blanket waiver makes total sence in this Covid year. This is a special year and extraordinary measures are the rule.
