Earth Quake

Did anyone feel that earthquake at about 7:30am this morning - Thursday?

It apparently was a 6.0 in Nevada. I could feel the whole floor moving back and forth like I was on a boat. It lasted about maybe 10 seconds. Yikes!!

We are screwed when the fault going through the center of our football stadium on campus decides its time to quake!!

I didn't feel it, but let's all hope that we keep getting little ones so that a massive one doesn't happen.

Didn't feel it either. But I did feel the one that hit in '93 or '94. I was on the 8th floor of Promontory Tower. The building literally felt like it was on a swivel. All of the California football players fled for their lives and spent the remainder of the night in other ground floor accommodations.

Let's hope the real earth quake will be Davis attempting to beat Patten's dunk record of 7 in one game!

Didn't feel it... Kinda sad that I didn't. Not to worry, there are five sections of the Wasatch Fault that kinda go in order of breaks. The last major quake along the Wasatch was on the Brigham section and the Ogden one was definitely affected by it. The section that hasn't experienced significant movement in a long time is the Payson section. However, because of the valley effect, if any section breaks then the entire wasatch front will be hit because of surface waves that will just bounce off the mountains and go back and forth like waves. Thank goodness for that Geology education that I received at Weber State University... However, when I was going to school (2003) something really strange happened on the top floor of the Science Lab building. In all the Lab rooms on that floor the cement lab tables were all perfectly broken in a straight line with one side being a 1/4" higher than the other. Freaky experience, that should tell you how safe that building is and that was a minor shake...
