We finished #1 in 2010, but still got the #5 seed. We wouldn't have been at home for the quarters and semis if upsets hadn't happened, namely App State and MSU shitting the bed.marceagfan5 said:Third straight year we have been ranked number 1 at some point during the year, congrats to the team!!! As for being ranked first, heck ya we will take it. Do you know what number 1 ranked teams get?...home playoff games and a better road to Frisco. We won the games we were suppose to, others didn't so I do think we are deserving.....enjoy the ride, this team has a chance to be special

But I agree with Ranger, it's hard to back into a #1 ranking any worse than we have this year.
And seriously, Cal Poly at #14? Totally absurd. Anybody who thinks Cal Poly loses to Lehigh raise their hands. Or Stony Brook. Or Illinois State.

A target will be on our back no matter what our ranking is because we're undefeated in the conference. What's really the difference between undefeated and #2 or #1? EWU has the toughest part of the schedule out of the way and just needs to take care of business and continue to improve. If we're gonna be a big dog for years to come, it's time to get used to having a target on our back!

+1 on both of these posts. It's huge in regards to seeding and as a fan, I represent the right to look ahead.
NAU and Poly are receiving the other end of this shaft as they both started too low in the polls. SE, if Lehigh still has the same QB from last year (I think he was senior last year), they are more legit than you think. But I would still have them as well as Sam Houston below NAU and Poly.

Stony Brook is legit. Illinois State is good, but I don't think as good as CP. Lehigh is a joke. 3 pt wins at Princeton, Georgetown, and Fordham. Other 4 wins are against the powerhouses Columbia, Central Connecticut State, Monmouth, and Liberty.

They don't. They've been squeaking by with one or two score wins against extremely weak competition. Harvard at least has been blowing out their weak opponents.
Sagarin Ratings of Lehigh's opponents - win margin
Monmouth - 177 - 10pts
CCSU - 227 - 21 pts
Princeton - 161 - 3 pts
Liberty - 160 - 2 pts
Fordham - 187 - 3 pts
Columbia - 230 - 21 pts
Georgetown - 205 - 3 pts
Lehigh is at 141, good for 33rd in FCS... which sounds about right to me.
