Eastern Washington placed on probation

So the coach misses 3 days and has to go to class? Seems to me that the team/program always gets punished harder than the person who is at fault. Similar to Rick Neuheisel leaving a trail of destruction after him wherever he went.

I agree, especially considering he is no longer there. I guess they feel that ensuring compliance is the institution's responsibility, however they did self report the violations.

Yeah but it's not quite that simple. There was a big article in the Seattle paper that was linked on the AGS board that basically EWU did not staff a full time compliance officer, that they looked the other way towards a lot of things, and that they let these things slide for many years... like 15 years.

So it's not like EWU was duped by some roque coach who skipped out, they as an institution didn't take precautions to mitigate the risk which is their duty and obligation.

If the guard at the bank falls asleep on the job and they robbed then it's on his shoulders...

As always the more you learn, the more things make sense. The definitely puts the punishment in prospective.
