So close to chalupas. If we were really clicking tonight, we'd have put them down by over 30.

Good ball movement tonight. Phil played fantastic in my opinion. Wasn't looking for the points and had some great assists.

Block outs and some instances of blown coverage to the basket showed up a little bit, but for the most part, we played well as a team.

Nice to start 1-0 in conference play.

Dominic is really stepping up his game, just needs to stop trash talking so much. Great start to Big Sky Conference play:

Vikings win Big Sky opener 98-75 over Eastern Washington

Guede looks like a heck of a defender. Pretty impressive that they had him guarding Valentine, who didn't do much scoring tonight. And, Wow! Melvin Jones can shoot the three!

Lights Out! Vikings Set Shooting Record, Rip Eagles, 98-75

Damn I wanted 100 points. I loved that the crowded started chanting chalupas!

Our student section basically sucks. Without the track team starting things, no one so much as does more than clap. It's pretty lame.

We had some pretty good plays today, how many blocked shots were there anyways? That was pretty awesome. Pretty good way to start conference play.

How did they screw him? Just curious -

Me too. Somebody explain the background here.

We talked about it a bit awhile back. I talked to one of his coaches in January. Here are the main points:

"Portland St, specifically Coach Bone and Coach Geving, have acted unscrupulously in this recruitment. They haven't done anything illegal, but what they have done is morally wrong.

Glen signed his NLI in November last year and was qualified at that time. The day he signed, they threw in the caveat that Glen was going to come to PSU in 2009. They also stated that they would find him a prep school as part of the deal.

Tyler Geving called four prep schools and admitted he was out of his league with the prep school situation. He specifically asked me to not call any prep schools... stating that he was on top of it. This was in March. He then waited until July to even try... when the scholarships are all given out. So, come August, Glen is twisting in the wind. He tried to make it happen to walk on and redshirt this year, but could not get the loan needed to pay for everything for this year.

He spent September-December searching for a prep school and practicing as a greyshirt with Shoreline CC. He left on Thursday, with Mark McLaughlin, to go to Laurinburg Prep School in North Carolina. PSU has granted his release, as long as it isn't to a Big Sky school.

PSU strung him out, stole his options to be recruited last year and tricked him into signing an NLI for 2008-09, which they never had an intention of honoring. To be sure, I have copies of his NLI. I also personally signed him up for his SAT.

While Glen has to take responsibility for agreeing to the bullshit deal that Bone signed him to, the coaches are the adults here and should not be toying with kids' academic and athletic futures as PSU did here. Glen had other offers and could have gone other places."

Hmmm. That does smell. Who carries the responsibility, Geving or Bone or both? I'd say both. It's the sort of thing that goes on far too much at D-I level. Recruiting needs monitoring. I'm glad Dean got in finally with EWU; he showed that he could play last night.

Dean can play. I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll burn us one of these years....

Good numbers for the students, but zero action. Lame would be a good word to use.
