Griz fans are just like Gonzaga fans. A bunch of middle to late age white men that probably never played football beyond their 8 man high school teams, if that. Who probably didn't jump on the bandwagon until the mid 90s after the first of two National Championships.
When a team has nothing to argue beyond except it's history, then that's the sign of a desperate fan base. It's been 12 years since they won their last National Championship, 4 years since their last Big Sky Championship, missed the playoffs 2 of the last 3 years, had a losing record last year, and can't seem to keep their players out of jail for longer than a few months at a time.
The fact that so many Griz fans have moved over here to this board, just proves that EWU is far more worrisome for them than they'll ever admit. As I said over on their board, I'll wait for the PLAYERS to determine who the best team is on October 26th. But I can guarantee our players will not be intimidated by their stadium, history, or their QB who they've proclaimed to be Jesus.
Compared to your fan base who jumped on the bandwagon all of 4 years ago, most of the people in Washington are just now realizing you have a college in Cheney...A couple more decades of fans jumping on the bandwagon the is Beagle football and you might generate enough revenue to get out of a high school stadium. Oh and if your program was dominant for the last 3 decades, EWU fans might actually have a history to talk about.
You clearly, like most of your counterparts, have ZERO idea what it's like to be a University that's not the only show around. Grizzly Athletics is the only thing people in Montana have to follow, outside of high school sports.
In Cheney, look around. Two PAC 12 schools in the state, 5 universities within 100 miles, and 3 professional sports teams within 4 hours. Not to mention a city that's 4 times the size of Missoula just 15 miles away. It's no secret that UM draws more fans and support than EWU, but too bad that doesn't win games. I'll take EWU's last 5 years over UM's any day of the week. A clean, successful program with a fantastic coaching staff and growing it's support each day. As an EWU fan, it's been an amazing ride that's only getting better! :thumb:
