Elijah Dotson, #5 FCS: The Best Returning Players In 2021

Elijah Dotson ranked the #5 returning RB in the FCS.

In each of his first three seasons on campus, Dotson went over 1,000 all-purpose yards from 2017-2019 with his ability to run the ball, catch it, and return kickoffs. The two-time All-Big Sky First Team selection and 2019 HERO Sports Second Team All-American rushed for 1,154 yards and nine touchdowns in 2018, and then had 742 yards and seven TDs on the ground in 2019 along with 70 catches for 702 yards and four TDs.

I wrote this on social media, and I’ll repeat it here — #33 is #1 in my book.

He has the talent to play on Sunday’s. His receiving ability will play a huge factor in him making it at the next level. He’s an all-around back.

If I were advising him, I’d have him focus on his pass blocking as his development there could really tip the scale. He’s already a really good runner and pass catcher.

I think he's a talented player but man was he unimpressive this spring on the track. Sac State's track and field program has declined over the last couple of years but his times were below average at best.

That’s a nice comparison.

Alvin Kamara is another player that comes to mind.

Dot doesn’t have their strength, as he needs to put on some more muscle, but in terms of playing style and skill set I think they are apt comparisons.

Whether or not he can develop to the same level remains to be seen.
