So, on paper, it looks like EW may blow us out of the water, except for the rushing game. I am thinking we will need to have a great rushing game, chew up the clock and keep their offense off the field, make no mistakes, and no turnovers. Their fans think we have nothing to challenge them with. Any thoughts on the EW game.

The Regal Beagles are already talking smack:

"If NAU can hold UNC to 260 yards, we can hold them to 200.

If NAU can put up 500 yards, we can put up 750.

I don't understand how people could let themselves get stressed over such a trivial team.

Save your fingernails for the Grizzlies."

"no amount of lipstick on UNC is going to make them a threat to this team "

I can't really blame them for being this confident, they are a heck of a team. It will be a good test to see how we match up with the top tier Big Sky teams.

I hope when we're dominating the Big Sky from next year onward we don't dismiss teams as "trivial" when we're *AT HOME* down to *UC DAVIS* 23-14 at halftime, and we yield 160 yards and 3 tds to their RB alone.

Arrogance is weakness....

This is why we have Miguel the troll. To always remind us how shitty we are

A few thoughts which will draw the ire of many, I'm sure...but please hear me out....NAU was not the NAU against EWU. We played better than at CSU, but we must play better this week if we want to be in the game. Our passing attack has to improve or we will be dominated by the attack of Gubrud/ Kupp. Next, defense cannot allow that many first downs. We definitely improved from the week prior, but they had three turnovers, and absent those, the game would have been a completely different turnout. Also, had Cookus been in, I'm not as confident in our secondary. We have to tighten up the coverage and pressure on QB. Finally, our QB has to stay put and allow the play to develop. He panics. I know he has only played a few games, but he runs way too frequently and too often, if he would relax a second, the receivers are open if he would take a look around. Again, improvements are happening, and glad to see the wins, but EWU is healthy and this is on the road. I hope we bring our A game with our top players. Go Bears. Looking forward to seeing everyone in Cheney support our team!

To bearfan2015.
Did you know that you have five "BUTs" in your message? I wonder what that says about your conviction. Well I agree with everything you said, BUT, the game is football and the TOUGHEST team will win. I have faith that it will be our BEARS! To have Faith means that you must takes RISKS. Our kids will take those RISKS on Saturday. I will take the RISK right now to say that...
"We have a great bunch of kids who will play hard and fast. I am prepared to watch our BEARS prevail by not getting down when something goes bad, and ultimately, KNOCK THE CRAP OUT OF EWU. Our coaches will have them ready. It will be a great day, TO BE A BEAR!"

I am realistic. That does not mean that I don't have conviction or faith in this team. I don't have faith in this coach. And, over the last six years, I have not heard very many of you have very much faith in this coaching staff either. As a matter of fact, I have heard many of you call for his head many a time. So, the fact that I call out areas where improvements still need to be made doesn't mean I lack conviction. Kaydee, you should recognize this having been a former coach. I try to recognize areas of growth and then also look at where we still need to improve so that we can continue to grow and improve, and (hopefully) win. Go Bears! I believe, as I have stated for years, that there is talent on this team. I think it goes untapped in many a game.

Faith is never a word I use (for Bears sports or everyday life). I try to base things on evidence, what I think is most likely to happen not on what I wish to have happen.
I imagine every coach believes they have a great bunch of kids who work really hard. I think the Bears are so much better than they were two or three years ago and instead of finding new and amazing ways to lose games, they seem to be learning how to win games, forcing other teams to make the mistakes we used to make.
It still doesn't mean that we should/deserve/will win against EWU but I hope to hell we do.
We visited their stadium a couple of Summers ago and on a bright sunny July day, the field looked like an absolute joke. A gimmick that really hurt your eyes and had no place in college sports. On the flip side, that part of Washington is beautiful and those folks are fortunate to live in such a nice part of the world.

Our young secondary is going to have fits trying to cover Kupp. I wished I went to the game last season in Greeley just to see that kid play. He might just be the best receiver ever to play in the Big Sky, and he seems like a humble, great kid too.

12 catches for 274 yards. He is a beast. Having said that, everyone can be controlled so it would be great to see that happen and see our receivers go crazy in their house!!!

While I understand and appreciate your confidence, I do agree with bearfan2015 in that we'll have to play better than we did against NAU to beat Eastern Washington. The good news is I don't think we played a particularly good game against the 'Jacks. We played a clean game, which in a lot of cases is enough to get the W, but to beat the No. 4 team in the nation at their place, we'll have to play a clean game AND a good game, which I think we're capable of.

So apparently we scored to take a 7 -3 lead and they didn't show it, nor a replay, nor even acknowledge they missed it... bush league.

Damn, that 2nd drive was well called by the coaches and well executed by the players (though BigSky TV missed the TD so I have no clue how we scored).

The production of the video feed is a sh!t show. Missing our TD, cuts to the crowd during the middle of the play. On the bright side, their broadcast team is pretty good.

Yep, I agree, the random 1 second shot of the crowd in the middle of a play... interesting directorial choice there. And nice goal line stand, sure the guy slipped but whatever!
