EWU 2022 Season Info and News

There was a lot of water under the bridge on the other thread so thought it make sense to start fresh.

The coaches are out hitting the recruiting trail hard. Don't know that I've seen this type of social media effort to match the visit effort in the past but I can't remember if I ate lunch yesterday.. :)

Hero Sports has the Eags at 18 in the pre-season poll. Missing a lot of long term players this season at WR, RB, OL and especially QB. It's probably a good rating right now. Is the talent there to be higher? There is.

Don't know how most fans feel about changing up the offense to take some pressure off the passing game against that early season schedule (which is brutal). I'm all for it. The OL could be a strength along with a couple of big RB's in Silas and Tuna in short down and distance moments. Like Jackson as the main ball carrier and think the team is relatively deep at RB for the first time in a while. There are also some big TE's to block and create match up problems. We will see how inventive Chapin can be and if any of the QB's can step up and make a few plays. A lot of unknowns.

There were a couple of signee's this past season that really cranked me up. At RB, Nick Adimora just lights up the highlights. Self proclaimed 4.3 40 and 195lbs with ankle breaking cut backs and ability to finish a run... Deep RB group but Adimora could be special. Can't wait for fall camp.

Just reviewing the schedule, but the only way I see as a path to success in 2022 is if we get to the second weekend of October at 2-2. Typically, that would be a minimum acceptable performance. But with roadies at Oregon and Florida, that means we need to be perfect against Tennessee State and Montana State. If we lose to Tennessee State, than the season will be backwards immediately. Beating Montana State will be no simple feat. The good news is we get a week extra to prepare for them coming to Cheney.

It doesn't get a whole lot easier after that, but at least there are no other "no hopers" on the schedule past that point. Weber State and Montana on the road are tough, which means even at 2-2 to start we need to win a lot of these toss-up games just to have a shot at some success.

I can't express enough how boneheaded and shortsighted this schedule is.

It could be a rough season, to your point. So many changes, there will likely be some pain.

Really looking to see improvement in special teams and the run game in the early part of the season. If that happens, the Eag's will be able to compete against anyone the rest of the season. Can't make any pre season predictions as I don't think we saw much this Spring except a coaching staff giving some players more time to grow. The real competition for the starting roles (QB et.al.) will be this Fall. This has to be the toughest schedule in the FCS. I see the young men working hard and the coaches hitting the recruiting trail creating energy around the program, which is all any fan can ask for at this point. Cannot wait for the season to begin.

Looked at Adimora as much as I could and he has huge upside as do other RB's.
The only thing missing in next years season is maybe subbing Alabama for our home Tennessee St. game.
Last year we had a great team with a great schedule followed by a great downer (for me).
This year going into a fierce schedule without a star QB where teams may challenge our QB to beat them by stopping our run game...sure hope a QB blossoms quickly along with a few wr's.
Gonna have to win all our home games and a few tough-ass road games. I have a good feeling our defense will be stout (gotta stay healthy).
I was so excited bout last year and excited to see what the team shapes up to be.
Do we have a full staff this year coaching? Weren't we a coach short from the get go then when we lost OC we were short two? I remember looking/counting all BSC teams and they all seemed to have more coaches than we had...
*How much $$$ we make playing Oregon and Florida combined? Don't know?... then guess. 600k

I see the first four games in 2022 as 3-1 for the Eags. Home vs Tennessee State and Montana State are most likely wins, and I can’t see EWU losing to two Power 5 teams.. even Oregon and Florida. If Eastern can follow up EBIII with someone good, we’re probably looking at a 3-2 start. If that happens we’re basically in the playoffs.

Thx Heavy...I needed that!

In a world of rampant narcissism... all I see is team. Can't get 2010 out of my head.

Made the trip to the NW recently after a whirlwind US tour. Hadn't seen the new field and I liked it a lot. A little lighter shade maybe? It popped.

Several players were out there; Talkington was QB'ing, Chism, Ulm and another WR/TE were out running routes. They were all shirtless and looked like beasts. I'll refrain from too much detail. It was fun to see them out there enjoying the sunshine. It was a Top Gun moment

Kinda forgot bout today is rookie report day. How exciting for the new players making all this real. I can't imagine how psyched up they are to get started with a storied program and the idea this season with Florida and Oregon on the schedule. Yes boys you made it!!! Have a blast!!!

Good sign indeed Lucky and thanks for posting all the stuff you do..wouldn't have a clue if not for you!

Think we are stacked at RB. With that said a 4* RB Emeka Megwa, from U of WA just entered the portal and redshirted last year. 6'1 220lbs
