Well, a loss is never easy to take, but I think most of us expected this outcome. Too bad that the score wasn't really indicative of how the majority of the game was played. Just a few thoughts on today's game, and some things we need to work on before next week's game against CWU.
1.) Special teams needs work. Kick and Punt returns are great, kick and punt coverage, lots of room for improvement.
2.) I don't know what's going on with our WR's and routes. On several occasions we had receivers wide open, but Bo either over-threw them, or they broke off their routes early. What is the deal with that? A lot of those should have been huge plays.
3.) Taiwan Jones.......Um, yeah. No one in the BSC is going to be able to contain him. Is there seriously a better offensive player in the FCS?
4.) Defense actually didn't play too poorly. Our line and lb play was decent, but again, our weakness seems to be our secondary, which Nevada exploited.
All and all, not a terrible performance against what should have been a superior opponent, and a couple of times we were actually in a position to win this one. I think we will get some things corrected and come out next week and lay the smack down. Go Eags!
