@ EWU & @ PSU - Feb 14-16

Seems alittle early to be advertising your plans on hosting the BSC tourney. I find it sad that even if they do host they can't play it intheir own gym. Sad as in pathetic for them.

Yeah, but think about it guys. (i'm not trying to put a damper on your PSU bashing here, but listen) If by some miracle psu did end up hosting and they didn't have a gym reserved yet, there would be no place to play at all except in their tiny little place. To me it looks like they are just covering their bases.

I'm not worried about PSU hosting, though. If you ask me, the team i'm worried might host over WSU is NAU. IN my opinion that road game for us is the most important one remaining. If we end the season tied for first in the standings and they sweep, they host. If we split and PSU is third, we host.

YES, without dis'ing PSU, they do need to have it reserved. If they don't host then oh well. If they do host and they can't get it then it would really suck.

I do agree the road NAU game is the most important of the year for the 'Cats. We can afford to at PSU and split on 1 condition....PSU still needs to lose to somebody else and maybe even lose 2 games.

As for NAU we need to split with them or we may be screwed. I think NAU will keep winning.

The article was great. It kinda explained the slump that Dez was going through earlier in the season. I really have a feeling that Dez is going to go off just like what happened at the end of last season. Weber right now is still the team to beat. Eastern said that today's game is one of the biggest of the season and it is a must win. If EWU loses they most likely are out of contention for a spot in the BSCT.

So if we win on Saturday we will sweep PSU and be back 1 game...if we lose we split and we'll be back 3 games and likely done for as far as having a chance to host.

ISU and NAU both got blown out at PSU. But at the same time PSU won at ISU and NAU but not in our house. We beat them by 10...as for right now WSU just got schooled by a bum-EWU and PSU is coming off of a good win and 7 straight wins.

PSU newspaper:

When: 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16
What: Portland State (15-8, 8-2 BSC) vs. Weber State (12-10, 7-3 BSC)
Where: Stott Center
On the air: AM 910 KTRO (radio)

Probable starters:

Portland State
G Jeremiah Dominguez
G Andre Murray
F Deonte Huff
F Kyle Coston
C Scott Morrison

Weber State
G Dezmon Harris
G Brody Van Brocklin
F Daviin Davis
F Arturas Valeika
C Steve Panos

Stars: Senior guard Dezmon Harris recorded 21 points in the Wildcats' win over Northern Colorado last week, including going 5 of 5 from beyond the three-point line. Harris is averaging 14.1 points per game in Big Sky competition. Senior center Scott Morrison was recognized as the Big Sky Player of the Week after averaging 15 points, seven rebounds and four blocks in two big road wins for the Vikings last week.

Just a taste: Portland State will attempt to continue the momentum it has possessed over the past month. Currently, the Vikings own a six-game winning streak and appear to be in the driver's seat to host the Big Sky Tournament. In order to continue their streak and down Weber State, the Vikings must receive contributions from a number of players on the offensive end. The Wildcats are the Big Sky's second-ranked scoring defense, allowing only 64.9 points per game.

I just want to say that I think the PSU fans are really classy. I was checking out their forum and noticed that they are fair with regards to other big sky schools, maybe not towards all of them, but they were towards us. That was awesome! Good Luck tonight Viks. Anyway, tonights game is big!! However, there are still five games left to play and this game is only one of them. Honestly, I really think Thursday's game was perhaps the worst the Cats have played all season. I've got to hand it to EWU, they brought the intensity and were the aggressors, but come on, Weber should have had that one, just like those games in Greely and potatoville. Weber wasn't focused on the game. I really think they were looking ahead. I'm really hoping Weber will get the win tonight. Consistency is definitely lacking!!! When Weber plays aggressively they win, when they don't they lose. Attack the basket and don't play with fear.

I had a nice chat with one Andy Young telling me that he loves the chance he has to look at all the recruiting news and everything on the greatest site in the Big Sky in wsubball.com.

WSU really needs this. I read the article in the Standard, and I totally agree with everything. Every team has a bad shooting night once in a while, and the Cats just need to shake it off and focus on winning this game. Is there any way to watch the game? I know you can listen to it...but I want to watch it extremely bad. Let's go Weber! We most definitely need Dez and Art to hit their averages...my bold prediction for this game is 5 treys from Billings and JP combined.

Ah, shoulda checked the game preview on WSUBBall. I bought the game off bigskytv.org

I'm extremely excited for this game, might even throw on my 6th Man shirt. Haha.

So much for my prediction... :(

It would've been nice if Weber could've gotten some decent help from the bigs...McCoy, Daviin, and Dez lit it up.

Well, it's starting to look like we all need to look for cheap airfare to Portland, the Vikings just keep on rolling.

It's good to see that Weber can hang with them in Portland though, I think Coach Rahe will regroup the troops and hopefully we can get a bye in the tournament.

Go Cats!

Excerpt from jasen asay in the standard:

Daviin Davis apparently doesn't like it when someone gets a big dunk against the Wildcats. So on Saturday he did something about it.

Less than a minute after PSU's Andre Murray got a steal and went coast-to-coast for a dunk late in the first half -- which was almost blocked by Davis from behind -- WSU's dunker answered.

Davis came up with his own steal and after going the length of the court he silenced the crowd with windmill dunk.

"It should have been on ESPN, it was ridiculous," McCoy said.

When asked if he thought Davis was retaliating, McCoy immediately smiled.

"He's always ready to answer when anyone dunks on us," McCoy said.

Other's frustration

While the Wildcats weren't happy with their two losses, the level of frustration at WSU is no where close to that at Idaho State. The Bengals also lost at Portland State and Eastern Washington last week, but didn't handle the defeats as well.

According to the Idaho State Journal, Bengals coach Joe O'Brien went to the locker room Saturday night at Eastern Washington screaming that his team "failed to compete" and came out telling reporters to leave him alone.

"No comment from me tonight," O'Brien told the Idaho State Journal. "Anything I'm going to say is going to be too negative. The players aren't talking to you, either."
