Yes, and it’s nice to see #24 do it.
What happened to Musser? Apparently there was a personal foul.

EWURanger said:Great win. The Eags really dominated that 4th quarter and finished strong.

We could have run off the edge, EB3 just isn't seeing which edge. It amazes me that audibles aren't being used. If Merritt goes right it's likely a score but the play was called left to the short side of the field. A motion left to right at least gets the defense flowing right possibly or bringing a TE in motion left to lead block, but the scheme doesn't have that so EB3 needs to see what's happening and AUDIBLE... IMO

Go to the replay at 8:24 in the 2nd quarter when several running plays looked inside the 10 yard line.. This is a microcosm of the issue's with running the ball. Eastern should be dominating instead they are going to "tricky" or expecting miracles.
3rd and 1 - Aligned to run left, Merritt apparently wants to go left but EB3 sticks the ball out to the right and has to scramble around oncoming rusher to get 1st down. I've consistently seen the Eagles run to the "weak" side this season in the red zone. Merritt got it wrong but IMO running to the weak side without setting it up first with some strong side runs/plays or motion to the strong side making the defense believe thats where the play is likely to go is VERY poor scheme. Running left on this one is the best option for success. Note the OL also blocks to the right. If you go through it from the 8:24 mark a couple of frames at a time, you'll see Eastern has a HUGE advantage left (strong side) and if they run that way, the result is likely a TD, but Davis seems to know the Eag's will go right. The whole blocking scheme here sucks ass. We saw this same kind of thing last week on 3rd and 2 when the play was run down from the backside resulting in a 4th and 4 punt.
Misdirection is great when set up properly, there was no set up and doing it in the condensed part of the field is ludicrously insane. Too my point -- Eastern can run off the edge... All day, every day in the BigSky and it would set up all kinds of play action deep throws but ofttimes each play seems to be called in it own bubble...
I certainly don't know it all but this sort of shit really annoys me and it's been going on most of the season. It's obvious to the opponents and too a crusty old fan.

7:51 2nd qtr 4 yard line -- Watch a couple of frames at a time. Play goes middle left and could have been a TD. TE comes down the line but picks wrong hole, it happens and note the center and RT #65 both give ground. If EB3 wanted to keep on this play, he can't because the RT #65 steps back into the bucket and allows the DE to contain the edge. the center has the super big dude over him, so I get it. #65 is Tristen Taylor, I assume he's been coached to do it this way since he's one of our best.
Throughout the game, OL seemed to miss blocks on several running plays and if this was the sort of thing they were doing it makes sense why the running game was so inconsistent. My son noticed the guard play was spotty throughout the game. He played guard on an OL that had 4 D1 scholly players to Auburn, Vanderbilt, Harvard and Samford.
Like anything, repetition helps and we saw the team run the ball well in the foggy fourth quarter. Great win on the road. Excited to see next weeks game.
I don't think Ely Doyle played. Hope he's back next week.
