EWU @ UI Vandals

“They kicked our tails from start to finish,” Idaho coach Don Verlin said. “It wasn’t as close as the final score. You’ve got to give Eastern all the credit. They came in here and manhandled us in every phase of the game.”

Very impressive performance!! Played great defense (and kudos to Jeffrey Forbes, whose performance won't look huge in the box score but he had a nice day), and hitting 13 three balls. That is a recipe for success.

Based on their performances against Idaho, EWU certainly compares favorably to Montana and Montana State so far!

I posted a comment on your blog, but great writeup! The way this team is shaping up, I think we're gonna contend with Weber for the conference crown. Hayford was a GREAT hire.

Thanks for the comment! I didn't realize WSU had lost to UC Riverside, this is a definitely a game EWU should win, which is crazy to say for a Big Sky team over a Pac-12 team.

Hayford has been awesome so far, hopefully he can continue the momentum! I sent him a congratulatory message, and he replied the "players are buying in." Hard to argue with that... I am back and forth on Montana/EWU as the top challenger to Weber.

Well then let me make your decision easier... UM nearly lost to NAIA Great Falls in Missoula.

Ha, it's true, that was a bad one! They also hold one of the best wins in the Big Sky, beating Long Beach State...

After their loss to San Fran, I am officially aboard the EWU as #2 bandwagon if they take down Washington State...
