EWU vs GRIZ

After a near WIN vs UW, and a shocking loss to South Dakota, we got to get it done this week. We know EWU can pass, so now lets show the BSC, who are laughing at us, we can run, see the Grizz forum. I for one know the players and coaches have blood in their eyes and are pissed off going into Washington-Griz Stadium. We need to show these guys the real Eagles this week, so let's go in and kick some Grissly ass. They are laughing at our O/D Lines, RB's, defense, and think they will sack BLM up to 8 times. Some are predicting 42-3 win, although some of the more seasoned Griz fans think it will be close. But there feeling is EWU is no better than Jerry Glandville's PSU run-and-shoot teams who were dissmal. Some are even saying we will win no more than 2 games this year. I do expect a close game, an eagle win of course. So let's get the momentum back and hope Nygen is returning punts again this season.
Let's get it going!! GO EAGS!! 31-28 W

From a talent standpoint both teams are pretty even, I like the talent level in the trenches for the Eagles more than the Griz.

The things that concern me from EWU's side is that last Griz had 2 interception 7 fumbles (4 that they lost). EWU obviously won, but I don't expect the Griz to turn the ball over that many times in this matchup (maybe 2-3). The other thing is which is the elephant in the room is the lack of run game (21 yards per game). That is not enough to keep defenses honest. Last year you guys were averaging 140 yds per game.

I expect the Eagles to probably turn it over on interceptions 1-2 times depending on how hot MItchell gets.

A couple of things that you got going for you is that while UM offense forces you to make quick decisions and line up fast, it is usually predictable at least the first half of the game. (Watch dive plays, and throws to the flats). 2nd half they start attacking deep and middle of the field.

Either way the battle between UM's secondary and your receiver group will be worth the price of admission alone.

I for one can't wait for this game!! I'm not nearly as confident as I was two weeks ago after almost upsetting Washington in Seattle, but not for the reasons you might think. There is no doubt in my mind that EWU is a better football team this season than UM. However, it depends on which team shows up Saturday. I've got a good feeling the defending National Champs will show up with some revenge in mind. I've been down to practice a couple times this week and the team looks determined to prove something. Most Montana fans think Eastern was a one and done team and some are predicting a huge blowout. 99% think UM will win. Guess we'll see! LET'S GO EAGLES!!!

As disappointed as I am about the SD loss, it may have been the best thing for this young team at this time. Obviously they needed a wake up call before we get into conference play and that loss may have been just that. It takes time for the expectation of winning becomes a part of the culture of a team. We are at our infancy of that winning culture. Anyone who reads e-Griz knows what I mean about a culture that expects to win vs. hopes to win.
I am confident we will be in position to win at the end of the game. Which team wins may come down to who has the ball last and if they can take advantage of that position. I believe it will be the Eagles!!
Go Eagles!!

I think we'll get our points, but in order to win our defense needs to make some plays and create at least a couple of turnovers. I'm talking about a nasty Renard in the backfield blowing up a critical third down type of play, a viscous LB hit that jars the ball loose, a timely pick by MJ, or a corner cheating on a route.

The defense has as been as poor as the offense ! WE need turnovers to touchdowns, you going to the game Chris ?

Win or lose, I sure hope we come out and play like a desperate football team on Saturday. If we come out lethargic and missing tackles and blocks, I'll probably puke and/or have a heart attack. It's better to die on your shield knowing you did everything in your power to win than to just capitulate.

I want to see us line up and punch this team in the mouth on both sides of the ball on Saturday. If we do that, I have a feeling we'll like the results. If we play like we did against South Dakota, it's going to be ugly.

Force Montana to stay in front of us and make tackles on first contact. Make quality blocks and hold them for two seconds. Little things like that will be the difference. Those are two things we did quite well at UW and just atrociously wrong at USD.

With bells on. Headin' over Friday to hit the Mo Club and Reds the night before the game. I assume you and the misses are going?

LDopaPDX,
These kids and coaching staff have worked so hard since the NC game to continue to get better that I will be very surprised if we do not see the best they have to offer. Mr. Vic can attest to the level of commitment by everyone.

Wouldn't miss it ! taking 3 others also to watch the win ! Hope o see ya there, GOEAGS!! FTG

We have to create turn overs to win this game so I expect to see kids hit just a little bit harder, getting hats on the ball, ripping the ball away from the ball carriers and dbs that are getting to the ball just that fraction of a second quicker. We create some to's to give our offense some short field situations and I like our possibilities in this game. There is still plenty of fight in this team and its not going to be anything like some of the Grizz homers are prediciting on their forum, 4 or 5 td win. Give me a break!

fraternizing with the enemy?

Heard SE174 will be doing some extensive undercover work this weekend and may even dress up as Monte to extract valuable info and sabotage pre-game and halftime activities...

It doesn't really matter how hard we have worked since SDU because Montana has the same amount of blood in their eyes. Hopefully the coach's have made the right adjustments from the last game. We won't win by throwing short passes with no running game. Yes, The Griz could hand us our asses, easily.

We have to win this game or the season is over. Everyone on this team, including the coach's, has to be much better. There is a lot of pressure but, they can handle it like they did in the playoffs last year.

wineguy;
Wow, that is pretty severe. You really feel "the season is over" if we do not win this game? Can't agree with that one. It is the first game of conference and every team is even right now. With your train of thought there will only be 4 mol teams in contention after tomorrow? I will be petty surprised if any BSC teams go undefeated this season. The Eagles have as good a chance or better to go undefeated as any of the other teams.
Coaching- I would put our staff up against any other in BCS and most in all of FCS. What has been your issues with the coaches? All the coaches can do is put players in position to make plays. It is up to the kids to get the job done. I think it is in Texas they say "you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink".
Time to take a drink guys.

It seems our offense began to click in the 3rd quarter. Tough break on the 3rd down goal line run, the pulling lineman tripped on a foot. I have faith in Baldwin's ability to coach up BLM during the half, and I expect them to come out hot.
