EWU vs ISU

Looks like Coach Z may be out at ISU. Any thoughts on how this might effect ISU's performance this Saturday? I watched some of their home game against Sac, and to put it tactfully, they looked pretty bad. It's easy to think that this might be a classic trap game, but with so much on the line, it being the last regular season home game for the Seniors, and the apparent gap in talent between the two teams, I just have a hard time seeing a completely demoralised Bengal team being able to steal a win. I personally expect an inspired performance from ISU, but in the end I think this one's going to be ugly.

At first I was thinking ISU may play inspired, too. But on second thought, I think they're just going to mail it in. They're awful and I gotta think they're more interested in being done for the year. Our boys ought to be too amped up to look past them, though, with what's on the line. I see an outcome more like the PSU game. Just my two cents...

I posted this on the ISU blog earlier. Let's hear some other gameday predictions!!

I agree that ISU should show up with lots of emotion (1 more win for the seniors, opportunity for the upset, etc), but there's no way we are looking ahead. 1) A convincing win on Sat. puts us in the running for a seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs. 2) Appalachian State should lose to Florida, and Delaware plays Villanova in an absolutely insane CAA. Those teams lose, EWU has the potential to be ranked #1 to close out the season. 3) The players have taken ownership of the Inferno and for once, we actually have a home field advantage. 4) Senior day, lots of emotion on our end as well.

EWU 34, ISU 13

EDIT: The score is based on how closely we've played teams we should have destroyed this year - UNC game anybody? I hope it's a 50-0 domination but I don't see that happening. Tavoy Moore is a playmaker and a shutout isn't likely.

TSN prediction: http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfoot2/news/news.aspx?id=4356973

IDAHO STATE (1-9, 0-7 BIG SKY) AT NO. 3 EASTERN WASHINGTON (8-2, 6-1)

Kickoff: 4:05 p.m.

Series record: Eastern Washington leads, 22-9

What to know: The Eastern Washington Eagles may do some scoreboard watching on Saturday. The Montana State-Montana game, which begins two hours before EWU's matchup against Idaho State will go a long way in determining the Big Sky title.

With a win, the Eagles can clinch at least a share of the conference title, but with a win and a Montana State loss, the Eagles will clinch the title outright and earn the conference's auto bid in the process.

Most likely, The Eagles have already secured a playoff berth, but the automatic bid and favorable playoff seeding are still relevant factors.

Of the Big Sky teams fighting for position on Saturday, the Eagles clearly have the most favorable matchup. Idaho State is just not in the same class as the Eagles, whose main obstacle will be themselves. If they focus on the task at hand, they will win and the rest will fall into place.

Prediction: Eastern Washington, 35-13

Either their O line is great or we aren't getting off the ball worth a crap. Don't seem to be applying much pressure. Just sitting back.
