EWU vs Montana State Predictions

Here's the latest predictions from TSN:

NO. 9 EASTERN WASHINGTON (2-1, 1-0 BIG SKY) AT NO. 17 MONTANA STATE (2-1, 0-0)

Kickoff: 3:05 p.m.

Series record: Eastern Washington leads, 25-8

What to know: Eastern Washington is 1-0 in the Big Sky after defeating then- No. 6 Montana last Saturday. Taiwan Jones continued to stake his claim as one of the best in conference history as his 287.3 all-purpose yards per game lead the FCS.

Montana State kicker Jason Cunningham booted a school-record five field goals in a 48-21 win over Drake last Saturday.

Although Montana State is ranked fourth in the FCS in rushing defense, Jones should still have his way on Saturday.

A bigger concern for Eastern Washington is Montana State's offense, which ranks first in the Big Sky in rushing, points per game and total offense.

Watch for EWU's standout linebacker J.C. Sherritt as he attempts to stop the Bobcats' Orenzo Davis, who rushed for 160 yards on 21 carries last week.

Although EWU has won seven straight in the series, these teams match up well, and after EWU's huge win last week, a hangover game may be in the cards Saturday.

Prediction: Montana State, 35-34

I'm thinking EWU pulls this out in another great game and good effort.

I'll take Eastern 38-28, with most MSU point coming in garbage time. This is a bold one, I know, and there is always a chance that rather than coming out hyped after a big win, we instead regress. I'm thinking we come in full of confidence and play relatively mistake-free and jump out to a nice lead.

Given that we've had two heart-attack games in a row, I'd really like to have this one all but over by halftime.... with the good guys winning, of course. My blood pressure has seen some issues over the last two weeks and I stopped taking cholesterol medication. Another game like last week, and I might not make it through the 4th quarter.

Again, and I really can't stress the enough... but we cannot allow a situation where we beat ourselves. We've given up two free TDs in each of the last two games on interceptions. We practically handed Nevada a 14-0 lead on special teams errors. Those things must stop immediately. If they don't, Montana State has a great shot at winning.

Dang don't say that, start taking those pills now cause this is going to be a great game. Go cat's!

I think the key is going to be who has the best defense tomorrow. We know that they can't stop TJ and if they try, that opens up the pass attack. We have to get ahead and stay ahead, because if it comes down to a field goal, we could be in trouble. i don't think this is going to be a high scoring game.
EWU: 27 MSU: 14

This should be a good game but in the end I think EWU will win. I just don’t see anyone slowing TJ down, plus it sounds like MSU is banged up on both sides of the line.

EWU 34 – MSU 20

Good luck this week.

Thanks, this will be a tough game. Good luck to Sac this weekend. I think you've got a legit shot at beating UM, although WA-Griz is a tough place to play.

Can you imagine them dropping three in a row?
