Series record: Portland State leads, 18-13-1

What to know: Portland State has lost three straight games, but appears prime for an upset. Rookie coach Nigel Burton's squad lost to Montana, 23-21, on a game-ending field goal two weeks ago and fell at Weber State, 44-41, last Saturday despite racking up over 600 yards.

All-America linebacker J.C. Sherritt will get his share of tackles, but the Eastern Washington defense might struggle to slow Portland State's pistol offense. In three of the last four games, Cory McCaffrey and quarterback Connor Kavanaugh have each rushed for 100 yards. Kavanaugh also has thrown 88 straight passes without an interception.

Sophomore place-kicker Zach Brown has made 29 career field goals in less than two seasons, with a career long of 53 yards. He attempted a 65-yarder on the final play at Weber State and nearly made it, coming up just a couple of yards short.

Perhaps lost in the exploits of EWU show-stopper Taiwan Jones is that wide receiver Brandon Kaufman has game-breaking skills. He has caught 38 passes for 675 yards and seven touchdowns.

During Eastern Washington's four game winning streak, the Johnson twins, Matt (strong safety) and Zach (outside linebacker), have combined for 79 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups.

Prediction: Eastern Washington, 35-30

Portland State may be primed for an upset, but the eags control their own destiny for the big sky conference championship. I don't see eastern losing focus and they come out firing on all cylinders. Nothing against PSU, but Eastern has a lot more to play for coming into this game.

I think BLM will have his most complete game to date. If he gets in a rhythm, we can open up the field for Taiwan to run loose. I'm a little concerned over the health of the other TJ, Tyler Jolley. Hopefully he can get cleared to play by game time because he is crucial to our D. I think this will be the week we finally put it all together. After all, a win this week, the BSC title will be ours to lose.

Ya know EWURanger, we are really beat up on the O-line ! That coupled with a lot of rain could make this a real slippery game!! TO's will dictate the outcome, on paper we should light these guys up but given the way we play to our competition level it will probably come down to the last possession once again ! We are beat up some on the line, but Powers and Meyers should play. Worthington is questionable, but could play if cleared. Other than that, who all is banged up? I think we're more banged up on the defensive line to be honest. Jolley questionable, Williams banged up some, Cook out for the year, Larry still banged up.

My hunch is if it does'nt show up by the 2nd qrt its all good !! I sure hope it is !! We need those big guys !! GOEAGS!!! and yes I will be there as ALWAYS!!!!
