Here is to a great game.
Ditto. LIke I said over on your board, I think this will be the toughest test for EWU to date (that includes the Montana and NAU games). I do think we'll be prepared. Too much on the line in this one for us to come out flat like we did against UNC.......(boy was that a nightmare).
If EWU is going to win this one, I think it will hing on the defense. Our front 7 is pretty good - they have given up yards galore at times, but time and time again they have come up with some big plays, whether it's an INT or forced fumble (see Montana, Weber, NAU, UNC games). The one game that they have played poorly in was against MSU, and that was just an all-around horrible performance by the team in general. We sustained some injuries in the defensive line against UNC, but we do seem to have some depth there. You all probably know about JC Sherritt, our all-American lb - he has had a really solid year thus far. Other names to look out for are DT Renard Williams, DT Tyler Jolley, LB Zach Johnson, and Safety Matt Johnson, amongst others.
On the offensive side of the ball, we've been a little less productive than past EWU teams, but still capable. You already know about TJ, so I'll spare you.....right now he is not 100% from what I understand, but even if he can get a couple big plays it will help out. We also have to very capable backs in Beaumonte and (Super) Mario Brown, who had a really nice run in the UNC game. At QB, BLM has been a little hit and miss, but when he's on he's on and can be very dangerous when he plays within himself. You know about Brandon Kauffman, the guy's a beast, enough said. Other than him, though we have some other very capable/quick receivers in Edwards, Hart, Gant, and Herd. Our offensive line has been solid and we haven't had any major injuries there, so that is a plus.
This is probably anyone's game, but I think whoever makes the fewest mistakes wins. I don't think it'll be a blow-out for either team. And I agree with your assessment that EWU will need figure out a way to stop your excellent RB, and you'll need to slow down TJ.
Good luck and like I said over on your board, let's hope for a good, clean, game with no injuries and no BSC referee shananagans!
