Unlike Hillsboro Stadium, there’s pretty good city bus service from downtown Spokane to the campus in Cheney. Of course, in post-pandemic America...
...this has to be for one game a year before students return, when they’re playing what’s left of western D2 schools. Right?
Well, I can see a demographic consideration here. Younger people trying to avoid driving (people who have looked at the data know this is a thing), and if you happen to be trying to appeal to pre-college students, you kind of have to go to them.
FYI the gist of this stadium is a sharing arrangement between Spokane public schools and a prospective 3rd division- naturally named USL League One- soccer team seeking to site in Spokane. So I would imagine that part of the attraction is that the soccer team will sell beer. Do they sell beer at Roos? Seems like another factor.
EDIT AGAIN- the quote I saw on eGriz has EWU athletic department considering “championship events” at the new stadium. So Big Sky soccer finals? That makes some sense.
