Fall Camp 2017

I heard they were hoping he would be the starter this year at the all important left tackle position. When they recruited him off the Moscow HS basketball team they were hoping he could be the next Roos.

What is going on with key players leaving the program "for personal reasons"?

I wouldn't read to much into it. College football is a serious grind. Attrition rates are always pretty high. If you feel the love of the game start to slip away even a little, it's impossible to keep putting in the work and the hours required to be a part of the team.

Go Eags

Are "Baldwin" players not on board with Best or is the typical defections you get when the Head Coach who recruited you isn't there anymore?

OLine was supposed to be a strength. Doesn't like that way now. They'll either put a young player with no experience at LT or reshuffle the ENTIRE oline.

I can think of Jake Gall, Jordan Talley, and Spencer Hessler leaving under Baldwin. I know there have been more. Happens all the time.

Yeah it's totally normal. Let me put it this way, my time was under Wulff and the first 2 years of Baldwin. From the guys in my position group (we probably started with around 8 or so) only 3 of us finished our senior season.

Others can certainly speak more knowledgeably than I, but my speculation is that changes @ the top had little to do with this coaching change. I would think players interact much more with their position coaches and Best is still there.
My concern would be @ receivers because Edwards was outstanding and QB for obvious reasons. Defense should be stable but we have lost two ( that I know of) key players there for different reasons.

clawman,
I'm out at EWU Daily at practices, and I think the Players love playing for Coach Best. I saw Ellison at Mitchells Grocery about 2 week ago, and he was very happy FB was started. He did suffer Concussions earlier, maybe he was concerned and give up FB. Alek Kazmarich LB also had a few concussions, and he also had enough so he left FB, didn't even come out for the beginning of the season. To all do not under estimate this team, they will function as never seen before. Both the Defense/Ol looks great. Granted we have a lot of New Players, they are not missing a step. Go Eagles!!!!! Vic Wallace

To All,
Will be out of commission starting the above, will be in SHMC. They will be replacing my Pace Maker. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: I will have to miss Sept 9th Game, NDSU which is my 83rd BD. I am looking forward to this surgery, maybe it will help with my always being tired. The team is going Charter to TT, so we will be there to see our Team off. Should be back to the games in about two weeks, hope it is earlier.   Go Eagles!!!!! Vic E. Wallace

Speedy recovery to you Vic. And don't worry...not going to underestimate this team. If anything, my bar is set very, very high. I think most people on this board have lofty expectations for the program year-in and year-out now. I expect (not hope) that this team will be in at least the Semi's every year. No doubt that this year's team has everything it takes to take down James Madison.

go eags!

Good luck with the surgery, I'll be thinking of you!
(Did you ask them for a TURBO version)

*Concussions are a big deal(CTE)..I wish I would have known more about them 20 years ago (as a parent). You'll see more players taking second looks across the board on whether to continue.

*Vic, hurry up and slam dunk that pace maker. We need you back in the game to give us your analysis and positivism so we can keep the proper perspective man!

To All,
Thanks for your thoughts and wishes. I am certain I will have a speedy recovery. This will be my 3rd one in 10 years. I just wish they had this type of things before my wife died 18 years ago. I finally heard my Deflib. tweet through my chest, scared the hell out of me when I first heard it. I have heard the little sound now approximately 4 times, it is just alerting me that the Battery is running out. Clawman for you I have ECOBOOST:) Have a great weekend. Vic E. Wallace
