The Bison just won at Iowa State by 20. It's safe to say that NDSU is the best team to ever visit Ogden. Although they have won 25 straight games and 3 titles in a row, they did lose to an average Indiana State team in 2012 and an average Youngstown State team in 2011; both years they won national titles and beat FBS opponents. I have seen way too many football games to not know that anything can happen, as long as we can establish a home field advantage. There is no reason why this shouldn't be the largest and loudest crowd since Mac's first game. Here's how we pack the house:
1. All students, fans, players, coaches and faculty need to invite everyone they know who has ever showed any interest in football. They also need to post at least one thing this week on social networking about the game.
2. The campus presence needs to be unlike anything we have ever seen. Not only do we need signs for the game, but also put up banners and balloons or anything else to attract attention to the game. Hopefully there will be a booth outside the Union as well.
3. Pass out flyers. When I was a student I helped pass out flyers in the Union for several football games and noticed a big difference. We also put them on cars and at the dorms. It amazing how many fans can be recruited in just a few hours.
4. Athletics needs to create a facebook invite and sponsor it. Even a couple hundred dollars goes a very long way.
Here's how we can protect the house:
1. Think about the game the entire week and talk about it with your friends. Visualize yourself as the loudest and most crazed football fan in college.
2. Get to the game early. Fans that arrive at least 2 hours before the game are a little more invested. Weber always puts on a great tailgate, with free food. I'm sure a few thousand NDSU fans will be tailgating as well and won't mind mingling with the locals.
3. Get Loud!!! When NDSU has the ball, yell as loud as you can to disrupt their offense! On 3rd down, STAND UP and yell your heart out! Also get everyone around you doing the same. Before you know it they will be helping you out and the entire stadium will be rocking!
I really hope the new generation of Wildcats is as passionate as the last. It only takes a few students to pass out flyers. It only takes a few students to lead the students section and get them loud. Thats why it only takes a few students to make a big difference.
Go Weber!
