Fan/Student Game Plan For NDSU

The Bison just won at Iowa State by 20. It's safe to say that NDSU is the best team to ever visit Ogden. Although they have won 25 straight games and 3 titles in a row, they did lose to an average Indiana State team in 2012 and an average Youngstown State team in 2011; both years they won national titles and beat FBS opponents. I have seen way too many football games to not know that anything can happen, as long as we can establish a home field advantage. There is no reason why this shouldn't be the largest and loudest crowd since Mac's first game. Here's how we pack the house:

1. All students, fans, players, coaches and faculty need to invite everyone they know who has ever showed any interest in football. They also need to post at least one thing this week on social networking about the game.
2. The campus presence needs to be unlike anything we have ever seen. Not only do we need signs for the game, but also put up banners and balloons or anything else to attract attention to the game. Hopefully there will be a booth outside the Union as well.
3. Pass out flyers. When I was a student I helped pass out flyers in the Union for several football games and noticed a big difference. We also put them on cars and at the dorms. It amazing how many fans can be recruited in just a few hours.
4. Athletics needs to create a facebook invite and sponsor it. Even a couple hundred dollars goes a very long way.

Here's how we can protect the house:

1. Think about the game the entire week and talk about it with your friends. Visualize yourself as the loudest and most crazed football fan in college.
2. Get to the game early. Fans that arrive at least 2 hours before the game are a little more invested. Weber always puts on a great tailgate, with free food. I'm sure a few thousand NDSU fans will be tailgating as well and won't mind mingling with the locals.
3. Get Loud!!! When NDSU has the ball, yell as loud as you can to disrupt their offense! On 3rd down, STAND UP and yell your heart out! Also get everyone around you doing the same. Before you know it they will be helping you out and the entire stadium will be rocking!

I really hope the new generation of Wildcats is as passionate as the last. It only takes a few students to pass out flyers. It only takes a few students to lead the students section and get them loud. Thats why it only takes a few students to make a big difference.

Go Weber!

I am super excited for this game! I keep hearing reports of a sellout game. Is this really going to happen?? I remember Macs first game, as they brought in temporary bleachers in the south endzone. Do we see something like this happening again with temp bleachers? Will there be need for extra seating at least for this game? How may Bison fans will be traveling down? Im excited!!

I think it's close to a sellout if we had a 2009 caliber team. But this game is on TV and we have a fickle fan base that is still reeling from some bad seasons....so I'm guessing it's 7k.

Aloha from ND. I am looking forward to being back in Utah again.
Best wishes from North Dakota! Hoping for a great crowd!

Did you really mean to not include a 1 in front of that 7k estimate? If so & you're close, it will be very disappointing to many of us, including Coach Hill. It may take offering free tickets to several outlets like they did on that 1st home game with Coach McBride, but a double digit k crowd is needed to show proper support for this promising new coaching staff & team!!! Come on! Do whatever it takes; no excuses--TV or not--the past is history, a new era has begun! :-D

I hear something like 20-30,000 free tickets have been given out. Clearly we are in not in it for the money but hopefully full stands

I have no idea the number but, yes, many free tix are available, I'm trying to get about 20 extra peeps to the game that would not normally be there with the free tix. Despite this, the new staff, first home game, great team coming to town w/quality fan base, and whatever else, I'm betting there still aren't much more than 10k. I'd love to be proved completely pessimistic though.

Welcome to the board NDSUSR, you and all your Bison bretheran are more than welcome to come talk some football with us, we don't know what to expect with our team, but we know it's gonna be a tall task for us to beat you guys. Here's hoping for a fun and injury-less football game between our two programs. Enjoy your trip back to Northern Utah, hoping to see lots of Green and Yellow in the Stadium Saturday.

NDSU brought over 3k+ to the Iowa St. state game. I bet they bring at least 4-6k.... There will be at least 15k at the game saturday.... I wouldnt be surprised to see over 17500.... :twocents: :twocents:

Ogden is almost 3x the distance to Fargo as Ames, and a solid big 12 team will draw more travelers than a bad big sky team, so there won't be the same or more Bison fans to our game compared to ISU. That said, with some giveaways out there, maybe we draw closer to 10k.

I'm guessing 250-500 bison fans, Ames is driving distance and also we have huge alumni base in Minneapolis hence the big numbers

I've seen vouchers for free tickets at several businesses. A free football game versus NDSU. If you call yourself a Weber fan and aren't at this game, you are a loser.

If we don't have more than 7k for this game then they might as well drop the football program. That's how embarrassing that would be. I'm guessing (hoping) for closer to 17k than 7k.

I was intentionally being over-dramatic because to me that's how embarrassing a crowd of 7k would be. First home game of the season following a respectable showing at ASU, a new energetic coaching staff, the best opponent to ever play here, great weather, and over 300,000 vouchers for free tickets have been given away. Seriously, if they can't draw better than 7k then maybe there is no hope for ever drawing good crowds.

Get a couple of winning seasons under our belt and this is no longer an issue.

Sadly, I think it would take a lot more than a couple winning seasons.

Season, Record, Avg Home Attendance

2008, 10-4, 6910
2009, 7-5, 6500
2010, 6-5, 6913
2011, 5-6, 8487
2012, 2-9, 7416
2013, 2-10 5756

We would need like 10 straight years of winning seasons, a few Big Sky championships and a few deep runs in the playoffs to start averaging over 10K a game
