Looks like I will be running a playoff pick'em challenge for EWU fans. I've been trying to workout the rules, but playoffs are right around the corner, and I need to get them hammered out.
First, this will not be a bracket creation competition. I just don't have the time or automation to sort through everyone's brackets and see how they did. Instead, this will go a lot like the conference challenge where we are picking the weekly winners.
I am currently trying to decide on the scoring method for everyone's picks, since the number of picks varies from week to week. My first thought was to have each round worth 8 points and break it down as follows:
First round: 1 point per pick (8 total games)
Second round: 1 point per pick (8 total games)
Third Round: 2 points per pick (4 total games)
Fourth Round: 4 points per pick (2 total games)
Final Round: 8 points to pick the winner
However, this point system seems to way over emphasize the final round. When EWU makes the finals, everyone will pick EWU anyway
So I don't know how I feel about this.
Next, I thought maybe we could go with...
First Round: 1 point per pick
Second Round: 1 point per pick
Third Round: 2 points per pick
Fourth Round: 3 points per pick
Final Round: 4 points per pick
Still thinking about this. It makes it possible to make a comeback attempt, but doesn't over emphasize the final rounds. Let me know what you think. I NEED FEEDBACK. Haven't gotten much this year. :thumb:
