FCS Playoff's

SUU got hosed by the refs at the end of the game and SHSU ended up winning...thought SUU was the better team. Montana played a great 1st half but almost gave it away the second half. Jackrabbits were good...go PSU next week vs UNI.

Nice to see the BSC at least get one win today. Still not sure if I can root for the GRIZ.

I'm with you! As much as I know the Big Sky schools winning helps us in the long run, I just can't cheer them on-- ever!

Personally at this point with no skin in the game I am all in for whoever represents the Big Sky. Every win this year helps for next year for seeding and for spots. Go Big Sky!

Last week:
Nailed these:
Moc's v Fordham: Moc's in a walkover
Citadel v CCU: coin flip, Citadel wins a close game
Montana v SDSU: Montana firing on all cylinders at the right time
UNI v E. Ill: UNI is a close game.
W&M v Dusquense: W&M big

Not so much...
UNH v Colgate: UNH, phuck the committee.
Dayton v W. Ill: Dayton three TO's in the redzone sealed their fate
SHSU v SUU: SUU. BigSky homer pick. SUU leads in takeaways and to win will have to take it away 3 times over a better SHSU team on the road. Only got two TO's and inexplicably changed play calling late third quarter and all fouth quarter.... coaches :ohno: refing no call on severe PI late really SUCKED too.

This week:
W&M @ Richmond: Richmond 82% surety
Chattanooga @ Jax St: Jax St. 73% surety
W. Ill @ Ill St: Redbirds 94% surety
Montana @ NDSU: Coin Flip. Griz need to execute better on offense to win. NDSU by a FG 51% surety
SHSU @ McNeese: McNeese 62% surety
NIU @ PSU: PSU 67% surety
Citadel @ Charleston Southern: Citadel 60% surety
Colgate @ JMU: JMU 85% surety

Montana won't beat the Bison twice in one year.
I don't think so either, especially since the Griz really lucked into it the first time.
The only possibility is the fact that the Griz are much better now that the first game of the season and the Bison have lost their starting QB so playing second string.

Good point! I retract my previous statement.
Have to wonder if Stitt will clean things up or will it become "Stitt em up, give me the money"!

Just don't want to see Montana get off the plane wearing all camo outfits aka Miami... :) Would love to see NDSU go down at home.

Anyone else? Not sure there can be any "wrong" picks this week excepting anyone taking W. Ill over the Redbirds ;-)

Whew... still seeing Montana get hammered...

NDSU beats UNI
Richmond takes down Redbirds (upset of the week pick)
SHSU finally stops Colgate
Jax St over Charleston Southern

Some fun games to watch last week, PSU kept me up late then crapped out.

It's hard to believe that with as few D1 programs there are out West that the Big Sky can't put better teams on the field. You realize just how far down we were this year when the best teams in the conference all got put out before the quarterfinals.

Matchups.

Montana's D actually played fairly well against the Bizon. It was the two pick 6's and kick return that did the Griz in. Still a tough place to win. If Gufstafson had played all year, it might have been a different story. Montana was only as good as their quarterback(s) were able to take care of the ball.

SUU lost on the road to a back to back semifinalist and quite possible finalist.

PSU lost to a hot team riding a winning streak with a ton of balance and a defense that can shut down a mobile quarterback. Plus the experience factor.

If the Big Sky had the CAA's playoff schedule this year, we'd have two in the quarters and possibly one with a home game. Looking at stats, it's not that Colgate is a great team. They are middle to bottom of the pack in almost every category against a relatively weak schedule. It's the UNH and JMU are really not very good.

I would have liked to see a better playoff performance, but I don't think the conference was down. I do agree that we were though.

Some other points about the remaining teams.

1) With the exception of maybe Richmond and Chuck South, they all have a duel threat quarterback. Most of the teams that lost last weekend did as well.

2) All of these teams have solid rushing attacks capable of putting up over 300 yards on the ground against playoff caliber opponents.

3) 3 are ranked in the top 20 in total defense and 6 are ranked in the top 50. 4 are ranked in the top 20 of scoring defense and 6 in the top 50.

Down to four... Does anyone else besides me think Richmond has the stones to "upset" NDSU? All four teams have a certain physicalness about them and sort of look like each other.

Gonna go Richmond over NDSU. They showed how physical they are over the second half of the season. Two weeks on the road is a tough this time of year, but they don't call them upsets for no reason.

Conflicted on this one; SHSU and Jax St were both on my list to make it this far around mid season and generally don't care for either program. Jax St is beatable. Coin flip game. Going to support JSU in this one as I have many friends whose kids go there. It is a lovely campus.
