FCS Poll (Nov 2) - Eags up to #4

I love my eagles, but i can't say in good conscious that we're a top 10 or even top 15 team. Am i alone on this?

Ill State and Jak State have two really tough games this weekend, i'd guess one will probably lose, possibly both. Chattanooga still has to play an FBS game. We have a legitimate shot at finishing #1 if we run the table...

The pessimism on this board needs to lighten the f*&# up. Name a team below us that we can't beat. The FCS outlook is so bad this year that Montana and Montana State can't do anything to get OFF the top 25.

Show some pride in a team that has found ways to win under adversity and is undefeated in all Big Sky play.

One game at a time!
Should be a fun ride. :coffee:
Being #1 in these polls doesn't mean much.
I think this is going to be the craziest FCS tournament since 2010 with upsets.

This is so true!
Howe are they both still ranked. I know they have a rep, but common!

+1

This Eag team is clutch. I believe that if Weber would have scored a field goal or two, the team would have worked harder and focused more in the moment to come away with the W regardless. They remind me of the kid who runs the mile at a track meet in a losing position and sprints the last lap to be just as far ahead as needed to get 1st. Lazy, obvious as it is, is not the word- but it just seems that they just do what it takes to get the W.

It's nice that get to spend a year living on reputation. I would love for one of these poll guys to explain to me how Eastern is the top 2-loss team in the country based on the size and quality of our wins. Montana State being ranked ahead of a North Dakota team with the same number of losses and two top 25 wins is a joke.

The good news for everyone is that there doesn't appear to be any dominant team in the FCS ranks this year. EVeryone has to feel like they have a shot of they can position get a good seed and some home games. No one looks invincible...

Who bumps the Griz out? Dartmouth who just lost? NCA&T from the MEAC? South Dakota?

I didn't rank MSU but I still have Montana at 23 in my AGS poll. They lost on the road to my #3 team as expected and they still have a very good defense (although with the loss of Van Ackerman they may now be in serious trouble).

It's an interesting year in that the top 15 is REALLY impressive, but then behind that it's tough finding quality teams.

I have us at 7 this week but a case can be made that the top 15 are almost completely interchangeable.

clawman,
That is the same thing I was thinking. Is it the strength of schedule? BTW I did find something on the EWU Alumni area where there is a bus for Montana Game. It came out today. Once you get on the site, click on 12-13 Nov, it takes you to the area with the tickets, etc. Looked like everything is "SOLD OUT". Getting ready to get Chris out for the Coaches Show, Impulse, Northern Quest. Take care. Vic Wallace

glad to finally see PSU in the top 10, but it seems like they are being heavily penalized for the loss to UND at home. if you flipped PSU and us this poll would be more accurate but as I said in another thread our past performances seem to be over inflating our current resume. honestly, we dont have one quality win so far this season. we will really see what we're made of starting with NAU. glad we get 2/3 at home.

I don't think there is anything at all wrong with his comment, or that it is necessarily pessimism. You can be a realist and still love your team. I've propped EWU up when I felt they were being underrated, but I'm also rational enough to recognize when we are overrated. And based on the results and performance of the team, the only reason we are at #4 is because of reputation and past performance. The AGS poll is a bit more accurate, IMO, with PSU ranked above us, as they should be.

I believe this team is capable of beating anyone, and I hope that's what we see take place. But squeaking out precarious wins against the middle and bottom of the conference doesn't fill me with confidence that we can go all the way this year.

Why is McNeese State rated so low and moving up so slowly?

When we played McNeese in 2007 in the playoffs one of the more knowledgable local coaches told me we would win easily as their conference was weak. Coach Wulff and a very strong 2007 squad won 44-15 on the road and narrowly lost 38-35 at App State the following week. Anything can happen in the playoffs and we are in control as we enter November. Polls mean nothing but it gives us something to post about and talk about at our tailgate. This has been a great season so far with a showdown against a great coach and staff this weekend. After Saturday I feel our defense is ready to face what Coach Baldwin described tonight on the ESPN 700AM Coaches Show as the best offense in the Big Sky.

Our local fans are fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the Coaches Show. Beau was terrific tonight as was Miquiyah Zamora. Larry and Paul do a great job every week. Amazing to hear we had the ball twice on Saturday with the wind. Both possessions we scored touchdowns. One of the best wins I've seen among too many wins to tally. Agree with Larry, Gage Gubrud should be Big Sky Special Teams POW. This was another example of why this is the best coaching staff in the Big Sky.

We have not played to our full potential as of yet this year. But I have a feeling the next 3 games are going to show what we've been waiting for.

If PSU is better than us, they need to prove it. I personally think predicting them to come into Cheney and beat us with a Big Sky Title on the line is a bit of a stretch. But.. we'll soon find out.

I don't think EWU is overrated. I think they've won all their conference games and should have beaten UNI on the road.

Parity.

I don't think that, this year, there is too big of a difference among the top 10, and 11-20 could hang with most of the top ten as well.
