The only thing that matters in this poll is if you win or lose. Who you play, and how you play is irrelevant. EWU and NDSU's wins on Saturday, and the fashion in which they won should've bumped them up past SHSU and Jax St, both of which struggled to put away mediocre competition.

I'll tell ya, after finally seeing Sam Houston State in action, they are going to be formidable. They have great athletes. If anything, they might be a little raw. We look more polished. That might be a function of us playing so many more team of quality than they have. That said, I'm not looking forward to potentially playing them.

I'm definitely tuning into their game against UCA on the 19th. You have to believe Delaware fans are crying at the TV anytime they see Keeler.

Delaware was nuts to can Keeler. Will be interested to see if the committee changes their poll on Thursday. The Eagles need a top 2 seed to ensure that a run to the title goes through Cheney. You'd think a 10-1 record with some really good wins would do it.

If Eastern and NDSU win out, I just can't imagine either team doesn't finish in the top 2. I take nothing away from Jax State and Sam Houston State who are both getting it done and generally getting it done impressively, but if the NCAA wants to stick to its creed of wanting teams to "earn it," you can't possibly reward them above NDSU and Eastern.

Teams won't or at least shouldn't schedule the difficult games outside of conference if JSU and SHSU get the top 2 seeds. It will set a tone I don't think the committee wants to do...

Serious question: How much does beating up on the little sisters of the poor prepare them for the playoffs?

I watched them as well. They look like the 2013 Eastern Illinois. Tough against weak teams, definitely a decent team, but won't make it past the quarter finals.

Keep in mind the committee often diverges a lot from the polls. In 2010, we finished the regular season as #1 in the poll but got a #5 seed. And honestly, it was probably fair given our body of work at that time. I don't doubt this year will be any different.

Depends. If it keeps them healthy, it works in their favor. The question will remain as to what they do when they face adversity. Ideally, you get a little adversity and a few blowouts each season--- best of both worlds.

Which is what I took from the interview with the committee chair on the NDSU radio show. He literally said that the ranking they put out was not reflective of seeding as if the playoffs started then. Good example with us in 2010.

FCS playoffs projection

(STATS) - We're bold, so let's be stubborn.

At least for now, we add mildly.

We still maintain strength of schedules among FCS teams - listed on the NCAA statistics site, no less - is too glaring for the NCAA Division I FCS selection committee to continue on with Jacksonville State and Sam Houston State ranked above Eastern Washington and North Dakota State, which was the order in the committee's initial Top 10 rankings last week.

The winner of South Dakota State and St. Francis? Let's just say that would mean South Dakota State. I'd take that. There aren't going to be many second round walkovers. There's a lot of good quality FCS teams this season.

SHSU is a good team and probably deserves to be in the top 4, but it's hard to tell exactly how good when they haven't been tested by many tough opponents. As Montana has shown, beating up on inferior opponents doesn't necessarily make you an elite team.
