Does anyone have any contacts that might be able to help us have this webcam turned to show the field turf project for a couple months...?

http://www.fm.csus.edu/Construction_Projects_Project_Web_Cams.htm

Maybe an e-mail to Wanless? I'm tired of looking at the same thing over and over again...

good idea on moving the camera. yeah, who knows, it all may be a hollywood set with a plywood front that would go down in a windstorm.

Good luck finding ownership of the camera. I emailed many people to report the dorm camera not working and the only response I got was fingerpointing, a typical government response.

I got an email saying:
The field turf project is scheduled to be done by May 21, so we are excited about this change. It will be a great asset to the total athletic program. We do not have the capability to put in a camera for this project, but be assured it is moving forward at a rapid pace.

Too bad, I think it would be fun watching them install the turf. I just hope pictures are released by someone at some point and time. :|

Doubt it, seems the school has returned to the ways of Gerth in that everything is secretive and no self promotion occurs. I view it as a typical government agency not tooting its horn while at the same time holding out its hand for welfare from the State. I sure wish we were a private school or at least a school that could be proud of its accomplishments and not hiding behind we are destitute please spare us a dime mentality.

Nothing is secretive about this project...drove by there the other day and looks like the leveling of the dirt has been completed...saw the laser level equipment out there...this school has not returned to the "Gerth ways"

SD, that's a POS response they gave you....

How hard would it be to turn the dang WELL camera for 6 weeks... JEEZ

If not secretive, why not promote it to the masses instead of having one person drive by it and see a tripod with a level? Why no updates on the voted for arena? What about the stadium redo, remember Destination 2010?
My impression is that the faculty caused a stink and Gonzo has disappeared along with his vision for better things athletically.
Communication is key and there hasn't really been any of that since the vote of 'no confidence'.

That would require a govt committee and environmental impact implications, plus it would require thinking outside of the box. Too difficult to consider.

How many government employees does it take to change a light bulb?

ROFL.

None. You contract that kind of work out to the lowest bidder and get a candle.

Or you get a Chinese light bulb that isn't to spec and it blows out when you turn it on...but candle works too.

This dude is obviously a wingnut and wingnuts cannot be discouraged from delusional self-righteous beliefs. C'mon: not wrapping a turf installation project with golden ribbons? This is an academic institution, its mission isn't providing a mere handful of interested parties mostly static photos of a relatively uninteresting project. Drive by from time to time you fat, lazy bastards.

I especially like how its painted as a deus ex machina: the reason a internet-ready service can't be plunked down in a remote area of campus is because The Man is Keeping It Down, not that its an academic institution who'd rather not rig power, data, maintenance, some guy in a truck, some work orders, some purchase orders, takedowns for same, etc, etc. Just like plugging it into your desktop, right? How hard can that be? Honestly, if I saw a webcam put up for this (or most other projects around campus) I'd consider it money -wasted-.

Guess what, guys: the reason the university whines it doesn't have any money is, surprise, they don't have any money. CA education has been defunded -- thems facts you can look up, presuming you've actually learned any of those skills.

Wow, you have terrible reading comprehension skills... Welcome to the board though!

Last time I checked over half of the CA budget is spent on education.

BTW welcome to Sac Buzz O_L. Nothing like digging up a 8 month old thread.

We have had a recent influx of spammers. GCM and I have been trying to put a kibosh on it.

I really don't know why they're picking on us and the rarely-used Sky board. I can't remember the last spam I saw, if ever, on CS.com.
