The Hornets face NAU and UNC on back to back nights to close out the season. According to a post on BigSkyFans, NAU has the 5 seed locked up and doesn’t appear to have anything riding on this game. I think NAU will play its starters for maybe the first half and then rest them. This should open the door for the Hornets to grab their 10th win of the season. If the Hornets can manage to open up a sizeable lead, I’d like to see some of the returning players who normally don’t see a lot of action to get some considerable playing time under their belt in preparation for next season.

This same thing holds true for the UNC game. UNC is either going to finish with the 2 or 3 seed. It all depends if they feel that a 2 seed is that much better than a 3 seed. Depending on how the health of their team is, they may also rest a lot of their starters in this game which again would make this game more winnable for the Hornets. It’s very possible the Hornets could finish the season with a 2 game winning streak. This would go a long way for the players and the coaches as far as finishing the season on a positive note.

If NAU and/or UNC think they're the Dolts, they have another think coming. And I'm not just talking in terms of playing Sacred City....

Benching starters and having success. Getting scrubs some PT to guard against injury to the stars is one thing. But to expect success by a complete or near-complete benching? Just ask Indianapolis how that works....

It worked out great. Their goal of benching their starters to get to the Super Bowl worked great. Their poor showing in the SB had nothing to do with their benching the starters 6 weeks prior. The Colts were just beat by a better team, plain and simple.

I just saw the Hornet's Nest on Big Sky TV for the first time. Are you kidding me? My kids' high school gym was bigger and better than this. Is this really their basketball arena or are they repairing or building their real arena?

Don't glorify the situation, Bear. It's not an arena. It's a JHS gym at best. We've had plans for an on-campus arena for years, but they've consistently fallen through. It's better than the Municipal Auditorium where we were in the late '90s, which was not designed for sports (opera was more like it) and had near-zero parking.

SHA/GCM/Kadeezy/SDHornet all have good info on progress for our new arena. Well, maybe not so good. "Current" might be a better adjective....
