Final EWU 52 @ Montana State 51 Game 4 Who knew?

Lots of angst on this one for many. Eags are far to resilient mentally to let much stand in their way to the BigSky repeat. Although a non-conference game this season, MSU will be a good test for the Eagles kicking off their BSC slate and should send notice to the rest of the conference.

Eags 48 -- MSU 31

I have a hard time not seeing an EWU win, but MSU is going to show up to play! We robbed them 2 years ago, and they are trying to make a statement with a new QB.
45-35 EWU

Typing from my tablet, so sorry ahead of time for typos.

Its been hard to gage MSU this season. I think Central Arkansas was the best look for them, so Ill base most of my assumptionson that. Let's take a look at some facts. Central Arkansas put up 70 more yards than their season average. They scored more points than any other game this season IIRC. This implies that MSUhas an average defense at best. Nothing that can slow our incredible offensive power.

Last game Prukop accomplished a 165 Qb rating. Impressive! He's no Vernon, but he is m8bile and accurate which makes him dangerous. MSU brings in a balanced offense which should keep our boys spread out. I think MSU will bring a team which will give us a passing game stronger than SHSU and a running game weaker than SHSU. They don't bring the speed, aside from Prukop, which gives us fits. I think we will see an offensive strength similar to SHSU, without the hindering penalties. However, I think our defense matches up a little better without the speed and wide receiver depth.

Our offense will be more crisp than SHSU, and MSU defense isn't as strong as UW.

Final prediction: 56-28 EWU

I think this game is a 50/50 matchup. MSU always seems to play us a lot tougher when we play early in the year as compared to later on. That, along with all the injuries will keep this game close. I am going with EWU 42 MSU 38.

WTF, I made two predictions? I don't even remember the first. My head cold must be worse than I thought.
 You feeling ok?

As far as predictions, I've been totally suckin' as far as scores goes. Not so much on winners, but I thought we'd score like 60 on Montana Western and never saw the 52 we put up against Washington. That said, we should win this game by 3-7 points. I think MSU is a very good team this year.

you were pretty consistent in your predictions though, so you must be pretty confident in it :thumb:

I wish we could just throw out all DII game stats, so often so many backups are playing that it is not worth even reading the box score

 I have an insufferable head cold that has left me groggy all damn day. Didn't realize that it had dropped my cognitive function. What's bad is that both posts were made within two hours of each other. Still don't remember the first one. Made sure to pick up some cold medicine on my way home from work.

Feeling good about my predictions lately. Big Sky Conference Warzone is apparently mailing me a prize for my pick on the MSU vs Central Arkansas game. 8-)

Is your low prediction for the Eagles because the Bobcats defense is better than the Huskies or that we will have less possessions?

Clawman, this game is a different mindset and Coach Ash knows EWU (much better than Peterson at UW could ever). They do have a good defense and playing at MSU is tough...last two games in Bobcat Stadium has resulted in a total of 34 pts (24pts in a win and 10pts in a loss).

EWU - 55
MSU - 35

I think we win this one going away. We have had 2 weeks to rest and and prepare for this. Moving the SHSU game was a huge advantage for us, giving us two bye weeks, including right before the MSU game.

I think Hill takes one to the house on a kickoff return, VA has a monster day, and Forte goes over 100 with a TD. Our D will be improved but still have a tough time containing their QB.

We will try to make them beat us through the air and they wont...

You just want those Chadron State stats gone.

I'm officially on the BobcatNation prediction as 47-42 bad guys (EWU). I originally predicted 42-24 bad guys.

Vernon and all your receivers are going to be tough to stop. Kupp is fantastic.

All that said, I really do think this game could go either way. We are seeing at least 5-6 different guys on each drive with a lot of different looks. MSU's offense is 100% different than last year - like NEW SYSTEM ENTIRELY. If EWU does not contain our QB Prukop, he is the third fastest kid on the team (4.4-4.5 40YD). If they miss the zone read fakes, he is gone for 30+ yards at a clip. I would say our defense is as good or better than last year and we did hang with EWU last year well through half time in your house. This game really could be all about turnovers. EWU has picked off 4 passes and that could be a difference.

Lastly, make sure you all watch true freshman #1 Garrett Marino. He is a beast child terrorist of a D-End. Get to know him well because you will be seeing him this year and three years afterwards.
