Fire Best

Money is the answer to all our problems. Time to pony up EWU fans.
I think this is accurate, and probably more of an issue than than coaching. I'll take some flak for that, but I think Best is actually a good coach but in recent years been hurt by the constant rotation of staff which has effected continuity. And then there's the NIL issue which has lured good players away to other programs.

I thought @Bloodeagle was saying people should pony up for a Best buyout not NIL, this being the "Fire Best" thread and all. At this point I'm not buying tickets for games or tailgate spots I'm not giving NIL money for Best to piss it away. Looking at the empty stands and tailgate I'm guessing a lot feels the same way.

From what I understand a lot of the coaching turnover is due to Best's, "my way or the highway" mentality and he loses good players with that mentality too.

As a head D1 coach, it’s not if you’ll ever be fired it’s “when”. It’s unfortunately inevitable when you’re at the top, just like corporate CEO. Change of leadership in the board, change of GM, Athletic Director, donor pressure, you name it. A lot of schools are pulling the trigger as usual this time of year. Paul Wulff gone at Cal Poly, Justin Wilcox gone at Cal, Barney gone at PSU, and yet I can’t ever recall a time EWU has ever let a HC go?

Dick Zornes retired. He was actually AD a few times, once while he was head football coach, dunno how that works.

Mike Kramer went on to become head coach at Montana State after Eastern. He was DL coach and promoted to HC after Zornes retired.

Paul Wulff was OL and strength coach then later OC under Kramer then became HC when Kramer left for Montana State. He went on to coach at WSU, his alma mater.

Then Baldwin whose story I think we all know. Then Best.

So yea Eastern hasn't fired a HC since moving to D1. Zornes retired, the rest moved on to different jobs. Idk, if Zornes was pressured to retire, he was AD too when he retired from both in 93. Then came back to be AD from 97 to 99.

I think it's been noted last year this is the longest losing streak Eastern has had since the late 80s, early 90s under Zornes.

There hasn't’t every really been a need. Virtually every HC at Eastern has been successful.
