First 2008 Scrimmage

Sounds like it went really well today. I couldn't get over there due to another commitment, but I like what I read. Anybody who was there have any thoughts?

It was a great scrimmage. I'm surprised no one has written anything on it yet. The defense looked good as always, swarming to the ball, forcing a turnover and stonewalling the 2 min offense segment.

The offense looks very much improved than what it did last year. The opening drive went very well. John Blea and Elon Paige both made their presence known from the beginning to the end of the scrimmage. Blea scored a big touchdown on the first series on a deep post. Paige was consistent and caught all 4 or 5 of his passes that were thrown to him. I may be going on a limb from a "sacbuzz.com" standpoint, but we could start these two and do just fine.


Croxdale, Biasi and Wilkins ALL looked good. As much as we're talking about quarterback battles, these three could all complement Hilliard. Especially Biasi's tough running and the truly SPEEDY Wilkins.

Quarterbacks... We couldn't really see that much of Carmazzi or Anderson. They had one series each, so I can't really speak that much on them.

Smith Vs. Bethel-Thompson; it was a great battle. I think they played equally as good, but Smith had better numbers and was more consistent, while MBT made a couple of errors. He was more effective during the two minute warning, where he found Paige multiple times during the two minute warning. However, if we were to choose a starter strictly based on performance that day, Jason would be at the helm.

Overall, it was a good scrimmage and it looked hopeful. The next one will tell us even more about who will be the starters and playmakers of this team.

Great Job THR - I missed it as well. I may make it to this coming Saturday's scrimmage. It sounds like we had some bright spots on both offense and defense. "O" seems to be progressing as they seem to be moving the ball even with some key injuries to the receiving corp. Does anyone else have any addtional information to report? I would like to hear some more about "D" and Special Teams.
