This guy looks like a big time recruit. Has PSU ever had such an early committment ? The Glanville effect is getting crazy!

Did you catch him talking about how PSU is playing big time programs - Pac ten schools, Indiana and Kentucky in future years. Could that be our SEC school?

This kid spent all of Tuesday's practice tethered to Mouse Davis. Didn't know who he was at the time but guess we do now.

I have watched Kramer play football for the past many years and have been very impressed w/ his growth @ the quarterback position and his maturity as a person. Do not let the small school background fool you. This kid can play QB. He is incredibly tough, has a unique awareness of what's going on around him, on the football field, which leads to nothing but points and he's a real leader, on and off the field. His senior year might very well be one for the record books, in Sacramento HS football. Congratulations and have a successful 4 years @ PS...

Read that. Indiana and Kentucky. Very interesting.

I like Kentucky. Great exposure for the program. We have never faced an SEC school, nor have we played an FBS school as far as Kentucky or Indiana.

I have no problem with that as long as we have some depth... Because expect injuries when we play against big and fast at every position. ie: Cal 2006

Kentucky is no Cal. They'll probably beat PSU at home, but they're not a good team. They had a good year last year, and they should this year too, but expect a dropoff in 2008.

Found this article (must sign up to read):
A lot of coaches, players and parents kept asking "Who are these guys?" in the Roseville Parks and Recreation's fourth annual seven-on-seven high school football passing tournament Saturday at Mahany Park.

Tiny Capital Christian, a Division VI school of 378 students, showed it can hold its own against the big boys by beating D-I power Napa 43-40 in the championship game of the eight-team tournament.

The Cougars also downed defending Sac-Joaquin Section D-I champion Vacaville 43-30 in winning three of four games. Other D-I or D-II schools entered were Vintage, Stagg of Stockton and Roseville.

"It was a great weekend for us," Capital Christian coach Karl Zierhut said. "Everybody has their opinion on passing leagues. It is what it is.

"And while there is no way we'd have the size to compete with these teams in a regular football game, I think we at least earned their respect."

In the seven vs. seven format, the offense has a center, quarterback and five receivers. The defense counters with four defensive backs and three linebackers. Players are downed with a two-hand touch, and a quarterback has 3 1/2 seconds to throw a pass or it is counted as a sack.

Napa, coming off a 9-3 season, lost to Elk Grove in the second round of the D-I playoffs last season and returns one of the area's top players in defensive back-wide receiver John Boyett, who has verbally committed to Oregon.

But in the title game, Capital Christian receivers Justin Jones, Robert Virgil and Spencer Hagan ran circles around Boyett and his defensive mates while Capital Christian quarterback Kramer Hagan always seemed to make the right read.

"In four games, our quarterback must have thrown nearly 200 passes (161) and had only two interceptions and a boat load of touchdowns (21)," Zierhut said.

Zierhut said Kramer Hagan, the Golden Empire League's Offensive MVP who threw for a school-record 2,407 yards as a junior, can be a successful college quarterback. But although there is a lot of interest, Zierhut says Hagan has yet to receive a solid offer. He blames recruiters' tendency to typecast players based on size.

"Kramer is ( 6-foot-1 7/8 ) tall, so he doesn't fit the mold," Zierhut said. "But he can read a defense and put the ball where it is supposed to be. So what do you want, some kid who is 6-4 but panics under pressure or a guy who is going to step up and make plays?"

Zierhut is in his third season at Capital Christian. The Cougars were 2-8 in 2005, then reversed that record last season.

But Zierhut said the school-record performance was bittersweet because the Cougars missed the postseason and league rival Lindhurst, which they defeated 23-21 in the regular season, went on to win the section title.

"We pulled the airplane out of a nosedive and leveled it out last year," Zierhut said of Capital Christian's turnaround. "Now we're going to try to gain some altitude."

Sounds like he has a wide receiver brother. Wonder if he is a possible recruit for next year? Hagen seems like a wonderful QB for the run and shoot. I like his understanding of being the low man on the depth chart to begin with and then having to work himself up from there. Shows maturity. Kavanaugh is going to be a tough one to beat. I went to several practices this spring and Kavanaugh was always there watching. Just a very smart and determined kid. It's great having good kids like this in the program. The future looks bright.

When Kavanaugh signed last spring the article said he might have a position change once he got to PSU. Has anybody ever seen him play DB or Corner???? Wonder how all that shakes out with Glanville going after this kid so early???

Just saw some more weekly media coverage on MAXPreps about Hagan. They named him a one of three top Nor/Cal players of the week. If you haven't seen his videos on RIVALS they look fantastic for a run and shoot QB. The links are on some of the ealry posts on this thread. He doesn't appear to have White's size or his arm strength at this point (White is 23 / Hagan is probally 1

but his sense of being able to make a play, escape the rush or deliever a quick accurate throw looks like money. He reminds me a lot of the QB at Eastern Washington that Glanville liked so much.

I assume he will proballyl redshirt next year if Howland gets his year back, but this looks very promising.

posted this in another thread, but I think it needs to be here instead.....

Found a link that has Kramer Hagan's latest stats. It looks like he has some impressive numbers.

here is a quote from a Sacramento Bee article from October 16th, page sports section, page C-8.

Football

If you are putting together a fantasy team from the Sacramento area, these are the players you would draft (based on statistics from Maxpreps.com):

• Quarterback Kramer Hagan, Capital Christian, 1,525 yards, 18 touchdowns.

• Backs: Deonte Williams, Pleasant Grove, 1,269 yards, 17 TDs. Terrance Dailey, Vacaville, 1,203-22.

• Receivers: Trevor Peterson, El Dorado, 40 catches, 629 yards, five TDs. Joe Brinkmann, Folsom, 40-576-2. Robert Virgil, Capital Christian 25-584-6.

• Kicker: Connor Best, Capital Christian, 29 extra points, three field goals.

• Defense: Vacaville, 17 1/2 sacks, 12 interceptions.

The Sacramento-area leaders include:

• Passing: Yards–Cary Grossart, Folsom, 1,759. Touchdowns–Hagan 18.

• Rushing: Yards–Williams, 1,269. Touchdowns–Dailey 21.

• Receiving: Yards–Peterson, 629. Catches–Brinkmann, Peterson 40. Touchdowns: Justin Jones, Capital Christian; Chris Garrison, Rocklin and Virgil six.

It looks like Jerry may have carried out a major coup snatching a top 20 player right out from under that California team's noses.
