Football Recruiting

This kid looks good. Last time we go a running back out of a small town in Idaho, he turned out to be quite good. Hopefully, this is another one. Looks like he is a tough kid too. So far, so good. :coffee:

...and with a name like Funkhouser you know it's going to be entertaining

Looks like a solid QB.. 5A Co-Offensive player of the year ..

We also got a verbal from a DL from Idaho.. Garry Callis...

I like how our coaching staff turned out, and I like the players we are recruiting!! :thumb:

Tyron Morris-Edwards from the U is transferring to Weber State. Looks like he is graduating from the U with his degree. But wanted a little more playing time this next year. So he will be transferring after his April graduation. Could be a good pick up... If only for one year.

Welcome Tyron! (but) I thought the NCAA outlawed this kind of transfer??? Don't you need to have 2 years of eligibility remaining to drop down to FBS? Or does him graduating make a difference?

You can transfer after graduating, with time, for a graduate program. That's how Glen Dean was able to transfer to Idaho and play. He went for grad school.

Yeah. But they do have an exception to that rule. It only applies if you are a good student. Russell Wilson did the same thing a few years ago when he transferred from NC State to Wisconsin. Here's an article explaining the rule.

I was aware of the grad school exception, but I don't think WSU is going to get too many of those kind of transfers...

I do like what our new staff is doing so far, hope these new recruits can make us competetive again.

Might just be our best recruit so far to commit in the Jay HIll era.. Scott Nichols, RB Bingham High. Gatorade Player of the year, 5-A state champion. Dave Peck calls him the best player he has coached in 30 years....

I am loving the local recruits Hill is bringing in! Many big time high school players from Utah going to become Wildcats!! Cant wait till Wednesday!! :thumb:

Where are the lineman??? Weber was killed in the trenches last year. Our lines desperately need help. That is what I am most interested in seeing.

It is nice seeing the quality of recruits committing though. I like seeing the 5A Gatorade POY committing. How on earth did Weber get him??

Jay Hill is the answer. If you are a WSU fan, you have to believe that we cab get the best possible. I hate the conversation of "how did WSU recruit/land Lillard?!!?" Players commit for more reasons than a school name... I expect WSU to recruit hard in-state... You have to believe in the product, not the school name...

Last night on KUTV's Talkin' Sports Coach Hill spoke about recruiting Utah kids, Polynesians, and Missionaries.

Brock Doman, OL/DL from Desert Hills HS has committed.

Cole McGinnis, DT from Gooding, ID has committed. Had offers from Idaho St, Montana, and N Colorado, and interest from Utah St. Four time all-state selection. Will serve mission before enrolling.
