Football suspensions on the way...

I just received word that a handful (at least five) Weber State football players were busted for underage drinking this weekend and will be suspended for one game. Eric Shufford and Robbie Diamond are the only two confirmed names I have thus far, but I will post more details when they become available to me. :wall:

OK. Here's what I have so far. Eight players are suspended. Apparently Gabe Bowers was involved, as well and was the only one arrested, although technically he isn't with the team any more.

Great! This is exactly what the program needs. We just got the fans coming to the games now we shoot ourselves in the foot again. :grenade:

Mike Baker, Robbie Diamond, Luke King, Nick Merish, Lanny Papanikolas, Eric Shufford, Darchon Taggart and Josh Tenove.

Sad day for Weber Football; to come off a Big Homecoming Win and not have self control. Life lessons, but the game moves on, just like life.

This should be a good wake up call for ALL the other members on the football team to keep their head up and out of their backsides.......

I read this today in the Standard Examiner - it was buried and not very visible, but too bad that these young men made some foolish choices that will impact the rest of the team. I hope the rest of the team can step up and play well in their absence.
I am glad that Coach Mac is imposing discipline and drawing the line with these guys.
Go Cats!

CHOICE = CONSEQUENCE

ACTION = REACTION

This is unbelievable news! College students were drinking and underaged!! :roll: NO way! How/why the suspension is what we are wondering.

Good they should be suspended. If Bowers isn't playing and is on scholarship, he should have to pay it back. The other guys are mostly freshman, young and inexperienced, but Bowers is a senior who should be doing a better job of leading the guys.

How can Baker be suspended for underage drinking when he is 22? Did he get in a fight with law officers too?

So are you implying that every player that gets injured should pay back his scholarship? :roll:

Not at all...how did you get that from my statment. This is a guy who isn't playing anymore, who the coaches see as an experienced, veteran, leader who isn't being a leader. He is injured and that ended his time with the team which is a total bummer. But, Bowers is a guy who KNOWS better and needs to act responsibly. Also, being arrested.. :bad: :wall:

That sucks, but one of the reasons the Wildcats are my second favorite BSC team is Coach Mac, he is no nonsense and will stick to his own rules.

Hopefully it doesn't effect the game much and these kids learn a lesson

From what I could see, the only suspended player who has seen any serious playing time is #1 Robbie Diamond. The rest don't seem to be getting much PT and are mostly Freshman. Hopefully these young men will learn some important lessons and respect Coach Mac and the rules.

Robbie Diamond has only played in 1 game this year(ISU) because of an injured elbow. So really WSU won't miss much with these suspensions.

True, but Diamond recorded eight tackles in just his first game back against the Bengals. He definitely was a force out there.
